Third Annual Indiana Thoroughbred Alliance Stallions And Services Auction Starts December 15

The season of giving can also turn into the season of receiving when you place a bid during the Third Annual Indiana Thoroughbred Alliance (ITA) Stallions and Services Auction.

The auction kicks off on Starquine.com on Friday, Dec. 16 and will run until 5 p.m. EST Monday, Dec. 19. It benefits the philanthropic efforts of the ITA to support aftercare, education and promotional efforts for the Indiana horse racing industry.

Top stallions from Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Florida are featured in the auction. Stallions from the following farms are participating in the auction:

  • Arrowhead Thoroughbreds
  • Breakway Farm
  • Calumet
  • Chesapeake Farm
  • Crestwood
  • Darby Dan
  • Gainesway
  • Indiana Stallion Station
  • Poplar Creek Horse Farm
  • R Star Stallions
  • Taylor Made Stallions
  • WinStar Farm

Looking for last-minute Christmas gifts? Halters worn by Breeders' Cup champions Gun Runner and Runhappy make great accents on the wall, as well as a wine tasting experience for 20 at Cedar Creek Winery for an experience package. Jessi Collins Photography donated a stallion portrait or sales conformation photo package for farms looking to up their advertising and marketing game.

“We love having our auction prior to the holidays because it's the perfect excuse for some fun last-minute gift shopping,” says Christine Cagle, the ITA's Stallions and Services Auction Chairperson. “Plus the last-minute tax deductions don't hurt, either.”

The Stallions and Services Auction is the only fundraiser the ITA performs each year, with almost all of the money going back into the Indiana Thoroughbred industry. In 2022, the ITA gave back over $30,000 in donations to nonprofits, educational seminars for Indiana horsemen and women and increased marketing campaigns for Indiana-bred horses consigned during the sales season.

“Being that the ITA is a group of men and women whose livelihoods depend on the industry, we are always looking for ways that we can do better to support the industry we love,” said Cagle. “I am so thankful for all the farms and business owners who have supported us through the years.”

Preview all of the offerings on the ITA's Facebook page (facebook.com/IndyThoroughbred) and on Starqune.com. Bidding starts at 10:00 am EST Dec. 16.
