Fasig-Tipton Santa Anita Under-Tack Show Monday

Fasig-Tipton will conduct the under-tack show for its Santa Anita 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale Monday in Arcadia. The first of three sets of the under-tack show is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. PT.

Fasig-Tipton held its first 2-year-old sale at Santa Anita in 2019 and, following the auction's cancellation last year due to the pandemic, returns for its second renewal Wednesday. Bidding in Santa Anita's paddock begins Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m.

Munnings Filly Graduates Via DQ in Arcadia

EDA (f, 2, Munnings–Show Me, by Lemon Drop Kid) summoned $550,000 from Donato Lanni on behalf of this owner at OBS March after breezing in :10 flat on the Ocala venue's synthetic surface. She was dispatched as the 21-10 second choice in this career bow behind 11-10 stablemate Censorship (Tonalist), who brought $300,000 from longtime Baffert clients Pegram, Watson and Weitman at the same auction. Chasing from second as Ko Olina (Stanford) put up a :22.53 first quarter, the the bay confronted that foe turning for home. The pair drew well clear of the field as they battled it out to the wire, with Ko Olina crossing first by a desperate nose. It was 13 1/2 lengths back to the next horse. However, following a stewards' inquiry, Ko Olina was disqualified and placed second for coming out and into Eda at the sixteenth pole and the placings were reversed. The winner is the first foal out of Show Me, a half-sister to the fleet GSW Aegean (Northern Afleet), who failed to get in foal to Bolt d'Oro the following year, but produced a Karakontie (Jpn) filly this term. KY Colonels Offer Grant to BGFC For Backstretch Kids

Blue Grass Farms Charities, Inc., (BGFC) received a $7,247 grant from the Honorable Order Kentucky Colonels (HOKC) to purchase 1,000 backpacks for farm and track workers' children–Kindergarten through Middle School–for the 2021 school year. In total, the HOKC will award $2.1 million in grants supporting 275 non-profits, impacting close to 3.7 million Kentuckians.

“When HOKC Trustees met with grant applicants this year, we were reminded how hard the pandemic has made life harder for many folks, from first responders in community service charities to the clients themselves,” said HOKC Commanding General Hal Sullivan. “Thanks to Kentucky Colonels from around the world who donate to the Good Works Program, HOKC can lend a helping hand to so many local charities that provide essential services that lessen the impact. Because a Colonel cares, we make giving to others a Proud Kentucky Tradition.”
