LM Stallions’ 2023 Roster Announced

A total of seven stallions, with the new addition of former Darley stallion Charming Thought (GB), will stand at March Hare Stud for LM Stallions, the latter announced on Twitter.

Priced at £3,000, the G1 Middle Park S. winner joins stakes winner and G1 Queen Elizabeth II S. runner-up Roseman (Ire) who will stand for £5,000, Grade III scorer Legends Of War is priced at £4,000 and the stakes-winning Classic-placed Tip Two Win (GB) will command £2,500. Also on the roster are stakes winner Southern Hills (Ire) set to stand for £2,000; and both Master Carpenter (Ire), who won the G3 Prix Daphnis and the Group 2-placed Mr Scaramanga (GB) will stand for £1,000.

Standing under the LM Stallions banner at Longford House Stud in Ireland is dual-purpose stallion Diplomat (Ger) at €1,500.

Muhaarar’s Fee Increased to 7.5k At Haras Des Faunes

Multiple Group 1 winner Muhaarar (GB), fresh off a season that included 13 stakes winners and 20 stakes horses among his progeny, will stand for an increased fee of €7,500 at Haras des Faunes, Jour de Galop reported on Thursday. The sire of 18 black-type winners total, the 10-year-old was priced at €5,000 in his first year at Haras des Faunes this term. Bran (Fr), Trevaunance (Ire) and Polly Pott (GB) all celebrated Grade or Group 2 victories in 2022, while Paris Peacock (Ire) struck at Group 3 level alongside Evening Sun (GB) Stateside.

Standing for €3,500 next year is Born To Sea (Ire). Gutaifan (Ire)'s fee has been set at €3,000, and completing the Haras des Faunes quartet is Captain Chop (Fr) at €1,500.

2023 INS Class Announced

A total of 27 students from eight countries will take part in the 2023 Irish National Stud Thoroughbred Breeding Management Course, which begins in mid-January next year.

The programme is a unique combination of practical training, classroom lectures, cultural immersion, personal and professional development which equips students with first-hand and a well-rounded understanding of the Thoroughbred industry. Making up the Class of 2023 are: Robert Acheson (Ireland), Brian Banahan (USA), Sean Berns (Ireland), Aoife Boland (Ireland), Julia Coenen (France), Thomas Connolly (Ireland), Gerard Donworth (Ireland), Emma Hunter (Ireland), Scott Innes (Scotland), William Macdonald (Australia), Georgina Macintyre (Australia), Darcie Murray (Ireland), Hilda Ntlatleng (South Africa), Faustine Otero-Chinot (France), Ciaran Phelan (Ireland), Orla Queally (Ireland), Annelie Rodde (Germany), Charles Shanahan (Ireland), Ailish Sinnott (Ireland), Maël Thilbault (France), Dayna Walsh (UK), Rory Woods (Ireland) Lachlan Bruce (Australia) recipient of the HTBA Scholarship, Jarrod Robinson (Australia) recipient of the TBA scholarship, Ciara Russell (Ireland) recipient of the Gerry Dilger Equine Scholarship, and Alice Jeffries (New Zealand) and Morgan Wilks (New Zealand) recipients of the NZTBA Scholarship.

“The quality of the applicants this year was quite impressive and it is very encouraging to see so many young people looking to further their careers in the industry,” said Anne Channon Education Development Manager. “It is going to be an exciting educational journey for the students and I look forward to welcoming them to the Irish National Stud in January.”

November Catalogue Released For Tattersalls Online

A total of 57 lots, highlighted by a breeding right in leading first-season sire Havana Grey (GB) (lot 57), have been catalogued for the Tattersalls Online November Sale. There are also shares available in Group 1 sire Almanzor (Fr) (lot 55) and breeding rights in Territories (Ire) (lot 54) and Harry Angel (Ire) (lot 56) set to sell. The sale also features 37 horses-in-training, mares in foal to Harry Angel (Ire), Study Of Man (Ire) and Golden Horn (GB), and a select offering of yearlings and foals. Group-placed filly Freedom Of Speech (Ire) (Australia {GB}) will be offered by Glebe House Stables as lot 48; and the stakes-placed Willesee (GB) (Gleneagles {Ire}) (lot 34) is part of a trio consigned by Jessica Harrington's Commonstown Stables. Bidding opens at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 16 and closes every two minutes beginning at noon on Thursday, Nov. 17.
