Dams of Nest, Mo Donegal Entered In Book 1 at Keeneland November

Marion Ravenwood (A.P. Indy), dam of multiple Grade I-winning sophomore filly Nest (Curlin); and Callingmissbrown (Pulpit), dam of Mo Donegal (Uncle Mo)–who beat his stablemate Nest in this year's GI Belmont S.–have been entered in Keeneland's November Breeding Stock Sale to sell on opening day, Nov. 7, during Book 1. Marion Ravenwood is carrying a full-sibling to Nest, while Callingmissbrown is carrying a full to the Belmont winner, who also took the GII Remsen S. last year and GII Wood Memorial S. in April. Ashview Farm, agent, will consign both mares.

“These two mares represent active families competing at the highest level of racing,” Keeneland Vice President of Sales Tony Lacy said. “Nest is responsible for some of the most dominating performances of the season, prevailing in [last] Saturday's GI Alabama at Saratoga by 4 1/4 lengths. The fact that Mo Donegal and Nest ran 1-2 in the Belmont speaks to their quality. We are proud that both Nest and Mo Donegal are graduates of Keeneland's September Yearling Sale and excited to offer their dams, who are carrying full siblings to these Grade I winners, at the November Sale.”

Marion Ravenwood also is the dam of 2021 GI Santa Anita H. winner Idol (Curlin), who set Churchill Downs' 1 3/16-mile track record in 2020; and Lost Ark (Violence), a 5 1/2-length maiden winner in his career debut in July at Belmont. Lost Ark is entered in Saturday's Sapling S. at Monmouth Park.

Callingmissbrown also is the dam of the impressive 2-year-old 'TDN Rising Star' filly Prank (Into Mischief), who earned a 91 Beyer Speed Figure in her career debut at Saratoga last month.

Blue-Blooded Juveniles Debut on Travers Card

The Brad Cox pupil is out of GSW Diva Delite (Repent), who summoned $1.2 million with this colt in utero at the 2019 Fasig-Tipton November Sale. That makes Verifying a half-sibling to champion Midnight Bisou (Midnight Lute), who brought $5-million at the 2020 FTKNOV sale. Steve Asmussen unveils Courtlandt Farms' King's Glory (Speightstown), a $575,000 KEESEP buy. Out of MSP Jax El (Unusual Heat), the chestnut is a half to GSW & GISP Dr. Dorr (Lookin At Lucky). Mike Rutherford's $400,000 KEESEP purchase Game Warden (Tapit) also debuts in this spot for Bill Mott. The bay is out of a daughter of SW Dance Quietly (A.P. Indy), who is a half to Horse of the Year Saint Liam (Saint Ballado), GISW Funtastic (More Than Ready) and GSW Quiet Giant (Giant's Causeway), who is the dam of Horse of the Year and top young sire Gun Runner. The chestnut is a half to GI Personal Ensign S. winner Persistently (Smoke Glacken) and a full to SP Award It. Her second dam is champion Heavenly Prize (Seeking the Gold), dam of MGISW Good Reward (Storm Cat) and GSW sire Pure Prize (Storm Cat). This is also the family of Grade I winners Instilled Regard (Arch), Queen Goddess (Empire Maker) and Dancing Forever (Rahy). Chad Brown unveils one from a family he's pretty familiar with in Take Me to Jimmy (Kitten's Joy). The $335,000 FTSAUG buy is a half to Brown-trained MGSWs Tammy The Torpedo (More Than Ready) and Seek And Destroy (Verrazano). His dam is a half to MGSW Criminologist (Maria's Mon). Highland Lord (Lord Nelson) makes his first trip to the post for Barclay Tagg. The Young homebred is a half to MSW & GISP Highland Sky (Sky Mesa) and SW & GSP Highland Glory (Sky Mesa), both trained by Tagg. He also hails from the family of GISW Bit of Whimsy (Distorted Humor). Broome Raids For Sword Dancer

Ballydoyle's Broome (Ire) (Australia {GB}), whose most recent trip across the Atlantic resulted in a strong runner-up effort behind Yibir (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) in last year's GI Breeders' Cup Turf, faces nine others–including defending champion Gufo (Declaration of War)–in Saturday's GI Resorts World Casino Sword Dancer Invitational S. at Saratoga. The 12-furlong event earns the winner a fees-paid berth into this year's Turf at Keeneland Nov. 5.

The 6-year-old entire comes into the Sword Dancer a relatively fresh animal, as he will be making just his fourth start of the season at the weekend. A first-up fifth in the G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup over 10 panels, Broome took command of the June 18 G2 Hardwicke S. at the Royal meeting after a quarter-mile and boldly led the balance, staying up the rise to score by 3 1/4 decisive lengths.

“He made the running. It was a good effort and we were delighted with him,” said trainer Aidan O'Brien, in search of a first win at the historic upstate New York oval. “It was probably his best run of the year, really. We felt he came back every bit as good if not better than before. He's a horse that's maturing very well.”

Off at longshot odds when last seen in the G1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth QIPCO S. back at Ascot, he locked up with G1 Irish Derby hero Westover (GB) (Frankel {GB}) at midway and ultimately got the better of that battle, but weakened out two furlongs down and finished better than a dozen lengths in back of Pyledriver (GB) (Harbour Watch {Ire}) in fourth.

O'Brien does not believe that forecast rains Friday will dampen Broome's chances.

“I don't think he'll mind it. He has form with ease in the ground,” O'Brien said. “I spoke to the lads and they're happy with the way he's training. Hopefully, he will run well.”

Ryan Moore, who rode Japan (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) to a runner-up effort behind Gufo last summer, retains the call.

Breeders’ Cup Launches “En Vivo” Spanish Language Coverage Of Select Challenge Series Races

The Breeders' Cup has launched “Breeders' Cup En Vivo,” an all-Spanish digital series covering three upcoming Breeders' Cup Challenge Series: 'Win and You're In' races. Each broadcast will take place from locations representing the three regional divisions established this year for the Challenge Series. “Breeders' Cup En Vivo” will launch with the GI Ballerina S. on Sunday, Aug. 28 at Saratoga Race Course for the East Division.

The Breeders' Cup “En Vivo” team, established in 2021, will return this year with co-hosts Claudia Spadaro, Darwin Vizcaya, Emanuel Aguilar, Roberto Rodriguez and Annise Montplaisir–who also produces the show. Each broadcast will air live on Breeders' Cup's Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube Channels.

The 2022 “Breeders' Cup En Vivo” Schedule includes:

Aug. 28: GI Ballerina, Saratoga, East Division – GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint
