Mandatory Payout Scheduled For Pick 5 Wager On Louisiana Cup Day

Louisiana Downs has received approval from the Louisiana State Racing Commission (LSRC) to offer a mandatory payout on their Pick 5 Wager, which will cover races three through seven on Louisiana Cup Day, Saturday, Aug. 21.

There will be carryover of $349,763 heading into Louisiana Cup Day. First post is 2:45 pm (Central) for the seven-race card which features six stakes for accredited Louisiana-breds with purses of $50,000 each.

The Pick 5, which is offered daily for a minimum wager of .50 cents, covers the following races:

Race 3 $50,000 Louisiana Cup Distaff

Race 4 $50,000 Louisiana Cup Juvenile

Race 5 $50,000 Louisiana Cup Sprint

Race 6 $50,000 Louisiana Cup Turf Classic

Race 7 $50,000 Louisiana Cup Filly and Mare Sprint

“We approached the racing commission last week when the Pick 5 carryover began to grow,” said David Heitzmann, Louisiana Downs Director of Racing. “Louisiana Cup Day is an exceptional showcase for Louisiana Thoroughbreds and offers black-type purses for the breeders as well as excellent wagering opportunities for our horseplayers. We look forward to a great afternoon!”

Louisiana Downs track announcer John McGary and regional racing publicist Martha Claussen will conduct a free handicapping seminar at 1:00 pm in the Inside Rail, located on the first floor of the grandstand. They will offer analysis and their selections for each of the races and Pick 5 on the Louisiana Cup Day card.

In addition, contributing handicappers Rachel McLaughlin of Indiana Grand, NHC Hall of Fame champion Trey Stiles and Nick Tammaro, an eight-time NHC qualifier and morning-line oddsmaker, will share their Pick 5 tickets on Twitter.

Prairie Meadows Schedules Mandatory Payout Of Jackpot Pick 5 On Aug. 16

Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino will offer a mandatory payout of the Jackpot Pick 5 on Monday, Aug. 16 after receiving the green light from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.

Going into the races of Friday, August 13, the Jackpot Pick 5 carryover will be $308,607.

“The Jackpot Pick 5 has been growing significantly over the last two weeks,” said Garrick Mallory, Assistant Director of Pari-Mutuels at Prairie Meadows. “If the jackpot isn't paid out before then, we expect the carryover to be in the $400,000 range by Monday, Aug. 16.”

“We believe this is a perfect opportunity to get money back in the hands of our loyal bettors and generate some excitement for a large pool,” Mallory added. “Additionally, it will allow enough time for a sizeable carryover to grow or a jackpot to be paid out before the end of our live racing season on Saturday, Sept. 25.”

Prairie Meadows offered a mandatory Jackpot Pick 5 payout earlier this season, on Monday, July 5. A $415,393 jackpot stimulated $2,047,266 in new money wagered into the Pick 5 sequence. Each winning ticket returned $25,072.90.

Prairie Meadows will offer live racing Friday through Monday of the coming week, with the Pick 5 sequence offered on the final five Thoroughbred races of the evening.

First post on Friday and Saturday is at 6 PM CT and first post on Sunday and Monday is at 4 PM CT.

Golden Gate Fields Schedules Mandatory Payouts For Sunday Card

Mandatory payouts in the Golden Pick Six jackpot wager, the Rolling Super High Five and Pick 5 bets highlight the wagering menu this Sunday, August 1 at Golden Gate Fields. First post on the 9-race program is 1:45 PM PT.

The Golden Pick Six, a 20-cent minimum bet, goes as Races 4 through 9 on the Sunday program. Among the races in the sequence: a 2-year-old maiden special weight, an allowance for colts and geldings, and a pair of turf routes. Heading into the Golden Pick Six wager on Friday, there is a small carryover of $2,270. If there is not a single ticket “jackpot” winner on Friday and or Saturday, the carryover will increase by Sunday.

The Rolling Super High Five is offered in any race in which there are seven or more starters. For horseplayers to hit this $1 minimum bet, they must correctly tab the first five finishers in a race. The mandatory payout for this wager comes in the last race in which the 'High Five is offered.

The Early Pick 5 (Races 1-5), popular amongst horseplayers nationwide, is a low 14% takeout bet every day. The Late Pick 5 (Races 5-9), like the early wager, is a 50-cent minimum bet.

Next Friday, the two-week Wine Country Racing meet begins at Golden Gate. The Wine Country meet offers live racing three days a week, Friday through Sunday. At the conclusion of the Wine Country meet on Sunday, August 15, Golden Gate takes one week off before returning for the remainder of the summer racing season, with live racing scheduled from Friday, August 27 through Sunday, October 3. NYRA Partners With Monmouth For All Graded Stakes Pick 6 On Saturday

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) will offer a pair of unique wagering opportunities on Saturday featuring graded stakes action from Saratoga Race Course, including an all graded stakes $0.20 Pick 6 in partnership with Monmouth Park and a cross-breed Cross Country Pick 5 in tandem with Meadowlands.

The $0.20 Saratoga/Monmouth Pick 6, which will feature a low 15 percent takeout and mandatory payout, will include Saturday's Grade 3, $150,000 Sanford [Race 9, 5:40 p.m.], a six-furlong sprint for juveniles; and the Grade 1, $500,000 Diana [Race 10, 6:16 p.m.], a nine-furlong inner turf test for older fillies and mares from Saratoga.

FOX broadcast network (FOX) will present a special Opening Weekend show beginning at 5:30 p.m. Eastern, highlighted by the 83rd running of the Diana.

The $0.20 Saratoga/Monmouth Pick 6 Pick 6 will kick off with the Grade 3, $300,000 Monmouth Cup [Race 8, 3:29 p.m.] at nine furlongs for 3-year-olds and up; and include the Grade 3, $250,000 Molly Pitcher [Race 10, 4:38 p.m.], for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up at 1 1/16-miles on the main track; the Grade 1, $500,000 United Nations [Race 11, 5:12 p.m.], an 11-furlong turf test for 3-year-olds and up; and featuring the Grade 1, $1 million Haskell [Race 12, 5:47 p.m.] at nine-furlongs for sophomores.

Also being offered on Saturday's wagering menu is a cross-breed Cross Country Pick 5 in partnership with the Meadowlands, the harness racing track located in East Rutherford New Jersey.

Current New York State regulations allow NYRA to accept wagering only on standardbred races that take place in New York. As such, the cross-breed Cross Country Pick 5 will not be available on-track at Saratoga or to NYRA Bets customers located in New York State. The cross-breed Cross Country Pick 5 is available to NYRA Bets, LLC customers outside of New York State.

In addition to the Diana and Sanford, the cross-breed Cross Country Pick 5 will feature the $450,000 William Haughton Memorial [Race 7, 8:37 p.m.] for free-for-all pacers ages four and older; the $400,000 Hambletonian Maturity for 4-year-old trotters [Race 8, 9:05 p.m.]; and the $700,000 Meadowlands Pace [Race 9, 9:38 p.m.] for 3-year-old pacers at the Meadowlands.

The Meadowlands Pace will be broadcast live on a special edition of America's Day at the Races on FS2 from 8-10 p.m. Eastern.

The cross-breed Cross Country Pick 5, which will have a mandatory payout, features a 15 percent takeout and $0.50 base.
