DJ Stable to Match GivingTuesday Donations to New Vocations

The Green family's DJ Stable LLC will match all donations up to $25,000 made to New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program on GivingTuesday, Nov. 30.

“We are so pleased to have the opportunity to partner with this wonderful organization,” said DJ Stable General Manager Jonathan Green. “For years our horses have benefitted from being placed in New Vocations' aftercare program, which prompted us to offer a matching fund for the first $25,000 contributed during the GivingTuesday drive. We hope others follow our lead and donate to New Vocations.”

Anna Ford, New Vocations Thoroughbred Program Director, added, “We're so grateful to DJ Stable and the Green family for seeing the importance of aftercare and stepping up to support our mission. Thanks to their generosity, we have the potential to raise more than $50,000 by Dec. 1, which would have a significant impact on our retired racehorses' journeys to their next chapters. Breeders’ Cup Pledge Raises Over $140,000 For New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program

New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program announced today that early estimate of funds raised during its Breeders' Cup Pledge will be more than $140,000. This year's total was driven by a record eight horses with pledging connections—Knicks Go, Aloha West, Life Is Good, Golden Pal, Ce Ce, Corniche, Pizza Bianca and Twilight Gleaming (IRE)—winning their races on Future Stars Friday and Championship Saturday.

Additional pledges are still coming in and final donations are still being tallied. Now in its 12th year, the Pledge has raised more than $940,000, with 100 percent of funds going directly to support the program's rehabilitation, retraining and rehoming efforts.

“Eclipse and our partners consider Thoroughbred aftercare of paramount importance and it is our duty and pleasure to support New Vocations,” said Aron Wellman of Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners. “It is with great pride that we're able to send a portion of Aloha West's purse winnings from his Breeders' Cup Sprint victory to support an organization that's always ready to help a rehoming or retraining prospect.

“The partnership that owns Aloha West is comprised of a healthy blend of veteran owners who understand the importance of aftercare and newcomers, as well,” he added. “To see these newcomers learning about aftercare and supporting the cause is gratifying and good for the sport.”

A growing number of prominent owners and trainers are showing their support for racehorse aftercare by participating in the New Vocations Breeders' Cup Pledge. Now in its 12^th year, the Pledge has raised over $800,000 with 100 percent of funds raised supporting the program's rehabilitation, retraining and rehoming efforts.

“Breeders' Cup is a very exciting time of year for our industry,” said Anna Ford, New Vocations' Thoroughbred program director. “It's a great opportunity for New Vocations to share its commitment to aftercare and spotlight those who are supporting our mission.”

More than 60–or over one-third–of the 2021 Breeders' Cup entrants and their connections have pledged support for Thoroughbred aftercare by committing to the New Vocations Breeders' Cup Pledge. In the Pledge, owners and trainers donate a percentage of their Breeders' Cup earnings to support New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program's mission to rehabilitate, retrain, and rehome retired racehorses. Now in its 12th year, the Pledge has raised over $800,000 with 100% of the funds supporting the program.

“Breeders' Cup is a very exciting time of year for our industry,” said Anna Ford, the Thoroughbred program director for New Vocations. “It's a great opportunity for New Vocations to share its commitment to aftercare and spotlight those who are supporting our mission.”

New Vocations is the largest racehorse adoption charity in the country and has placed over 7,500 individuals to date.
