Voss, Evers Among 2020 Media Eclipse Award Winners

The National Thoroughbred Racing Association, Daily Racing Form and the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters today announced the winners of the 2020 Media Eclipse Awards in six categories. This year’s awards are highlighted by Natalie Voss, Editor-in-Chief of the Paulick Report, becoming the first individual to win two writing award categories in the same year since the late Bill Nack earned two awards in 1991. Fourth Season of Foal Patrol to Debut on Dec. 29

Season 4 of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame’s popular live webcam series Foal Patrol will debut online at www.foalpatrol.com on Tuesday, Dec. 29. Season 4 will feature in-foal mares at Mill Ridge Farm, Safari North at Pauls Mill Farm, and Three Chimneys Farm – all based in Kentucky –  and Old Tavern Farm in New York. Season 4 will also feature champion sire Tapit at Gainesway Farm in Kentucky.

Former Barn Buddies Birdstone, Sun King Reunited at Old Friends

When 2004 Belmont and Travers Stakes winner Birdstone arrived at Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Facility in Georgetown, Ky., after 15 years as a stallion at Gainesway Farm, it took him longer than most retirees to the farm to get acclimated. Old Friends founder Michael Blowen said most stallions run the fence a few times in their new paddock, settle in, and get used to the good life of a steady stream of carrots. But Birdstone, a 19-year-old by Grindstone, was plagued by anxiety during his first week at Old Friends.
