MILIEU (Empire Maker), half-sister to Champion female sprinter and GI Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint shocker Shamrock Rose (First Dude), debuts in this turf maiden route for Bill Mott and Mike Rutherford. Costing $230,000 as an October yearling at Fasig-Tipton Kentucky, there is high-level success in her pedigree on the grass, namely MGSW Slew the Red (Red Ransom) under the second dam, who annexed two French Group contests before being imported for a State-side campaign. Debuting against a well-bred field here, JUSTIQUE (Justify) stands tall as the half-sister to GI Hollywood Derby winner Mo Town (Uncle Mo). Out of MGISP Molto Vita (Carson City), herself half to GSP Jaguar Paw (Giant's Causeway) and MGSP Venetian Mask (Pulpit), the filly's $725,000 price tag befit her pedigree; hailing from the breeding program of John Gunther & Eurowest Bloodstock. Dam Avenge (War Front) was the two-time winner of the GI Rodeo Drive S. and finished third in both the GI Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf and the Gamely S. at Saratoga. His dam's half-sister Lira (Giant's Causeway) was graded stakes-placed, and was herself the dam of a stakes winner. Texas Summer Yearling Sale Catalogue Released

Over 200 yearlings made the catalog for the 2022 Texas Summer Yearling Sale, presented by the Texas Thoroughbred Association and Lone Star Park. The sale will be held on Aug. 29 at the sales pavilion at Lone Star.

The catalog lists yearlings by Kentucky stallions such as Justify, Good Magic, Sharp Azteca, Mendelssohn, Bernardini, Practical Joke, Goldencents, Kantharos, Mitole, Vino Rosso and more. Texas stallions such as Too Much Bling, Bradester, My Golden Song and Competitive Edge are also represented.

July 24 Insights: The March of the Pricey 2YOs Continues at Saratoga

The WinStar and Siena Farm partnership sends out FAITHFUL AND TRUE (Good Magic), a $450,000 OBSMAR grad out of a half to Champion older mare Escena (Strawberry Road {Aus}), for his unveiling from the Rodolphe Brisset barn. Along with Bat Flip (Good Magic), a $350,000 FTSAUG yearling who is out of a half to MGISP Money Multiplier (Lookin at Lucky) and the dam of MGSP Threes Over Deuces (Flat Out), they make up two parts of the triplet debuting in the race for their freshman sire. Bourbon Bash (City of Light) debuts here for D. Wayne Lukas, who sends the colt–out of a half to GISW Volatile (Violence)–to post for BC Stables. Upgrade (Flatter) rounds this field as the most expensive of the bunch, a $550,000 KEESEP purchase by Repole and St Elias Stables last year. RARIFY (Justify) is a daughter of Bella Jolie–making her a half to champion sprinter-turned-sire Runhappy (Super Saver)–and a $750,000 KEESEP purchase by the powerhouse connections of Westerberg, Mrs. John Magnier, Jonathan Poulin, Derrick Smith, and Michael Tabor, looms a long a shadow over this field. Wesley Ward will send her to post in this juvenile dash. Randomized (Nyquist) looks to validate her $420,000 KEESEP price tag for her Preakness-winning connections of Klaravich and Chad Brown. She's out of a half to MGISP millionaire Smooth Air (Smooth Jazz) and the dam of course record-setting MGISW Got Stormy (Get Stormy). Justify Filly Romps On Ellis Unveiling

5th-Ellis, $60,000, Msw, 7-22, 2yo, f, 5 1/2f, 1:03.88, ft, 5 lengths.
JUSTA WARRIOR (f, 2, Justify–A Z Warrior {GISW, $286,906}, by Bernardini) capped off her worktab with a strong half-mile from the gate in :48 1/5 July 12 and was off as the 5-2 second choice to open her account at first asking. Away in good order from a middle gate, the $150,000 Keeneland September yearling took up a pace-pressing role to the outside, eased to the front with a furlong and a half to race and–despite a few swishes of her tail–pulled away to score by five emphatic lengths to become the fifth winner for her freshman sire (by Scat Daddy). A Z Warrior, the first-ever 'TDN Rising Star' for her sire, won the 2010 GI Frizette S. and was sold on for $1.25 million at Fasig-Tipton November in 2011.
