It's been a successful handful of weeks at Saratoga for celebrity chef Bobby Flay, at the racetrack with the likes of GIII Caress S. winner Caravel (Mizzen Mast) and across the street at Fasig-Tipton, where he sold an Uncle Mo colt from his Grade I winner Dame Dorothy (Bernardini) for $1.6 million. He'll try to end the meet on another high note when he sends out OLD SCHOOL (GB) (Frankel {GB}). Through bloodstock agent James Delahooke, Flay paid 550,000gns (about $944,000) for the filly's dam Auld Alliance (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}), a half-sister to MG1SW Golan (Ire) (Spectrum {Ire}) and MGSW/MG1SP Tartan Bearer (Ire) (Spectrum {Ire}) at Tattersalls December in 2013, and got her some black-type in the 2014 Flaming Page S. at Woodbine. The mare returned to Moulton Paddocks in 2017 carrying to Frankel, but Flay elected to buy her back on a bid of 1.05-million guineas (about $1.49 million). She was entered for the same event a year later carrying this filly, but was ultimately withdrawn. TJCIS PPs

Kimmel Debuter Looks To Sink Rivals…
7th-SAR, $100K, Msw, 2yo, 6f, 3:54 p.m.
TORPEDO RUN (Gun Runner) cost $270,000 at Fasig-Tipton last October, then fetched $450,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream sale after covering an eighth of a mile in :10 2/5. The Apr. 25 foal is out of a daughter of MGISW Lady Tak (Mutakddim), the dam of Japanese SW & MGSP A Shin Spartan (Zensational); SW Melody Lady (Unbridled's Song), whose produce include 'TDN Rising Star' Volatile (Violence) and SW/GSP Buy Sell Hold (Violence); and MSP Casual (Curlin). Fans of the daytime drama 'All My Children' might take a liking to the debuting Pine Valley (Maclean's Music), named after the fictional Pennsylvania town that served as the setting for the show. Produced by a half-sister to SW & MGSP Cherokee Artist (Cherokee Run) and SW/GSP Cherokee Girl (Cherokee Run), Pine Valley was bought back for $32,000 at KEENOV in 2019, made $75,000 at FTKOCT last year and hammered for $250,000 at FTFMAR earlier this year after working a furlong in :10 2/5. CORNICHE (Quality Road) topped this year's OBS April Sale on a bid of $1.5 million from Peter Fluor and K.C. Weiner's Speedway Stable and has drawn gate 10 as the 9-5 favorite Saturday at Del Mar. The son of six-time GSW and GI Matriarch S. runner-up Wasted Tears (Najran) was led out unsold on a bid of $385,000 at KEESEP last year, but turned in a smooth sales breeze in :10 flat to become one of two horses to eclipse the seven-figure barrier. Mike Smith has the riding assignment for Bob Baffert. TJCIS PPs

GALT (Medaglia d'Oro), a full-brother to two-time Eclipse Award and nine-time Grade I winner Songbird, carries the silks of Larry Best's OXO Equine as he makes his first visit to the races Saturday afternoon. My Miss Sophia Colt Kicks Off At the Spa…
6th-SAR, $100K, Msw, 2yo, 1 1/16mT, post time: 3:22 p.m. ET
ANNAPOLIS (War Front) gets his career underway for trainer Todd Pletcher and owner/breeder Bass Racing LLC, on whose behalf bloodstock agent Steve Young went to $4 million for his GSW & MGISP dam My Miss Sophia (Unbridled's Song) with the colt in utero at KEENOV in 2018. That price was second only to the $4.2-million Lady Eli (Divine Park). The 2014 GII Gazelle S. winner and GI Kentucky Oaks runner-up, a half-sister to GI Florida Derby hero Materiality (Afleet Alex), is already the dam of Annapolis's 3-year-old full-sister Nevisian Sunrise, third in the Wild Applause S. in June. This is also the family of MGSW/GISP Eye of the Tiger (American Chance) and GISWs Afleet Express (Afleet Alex) and Embellish the Lace (Super Saver). Calloway Peak (Arrogate) is a Juddmonte homebred son of the talented turf distaffer Filimbi (Mizzen Mast), a stakes winner in France and GSW/MGISP in this country for the colt's trainer Bill Mott. A maternal grandson of Oaks winner Flute (Seattle Slew), Calloway Peak counts GISW Weep No More (Mineshaft) and GSW Current (Curlin) as members of his female family. TJCIS PPs

Florida-bred SUMO (Not This Time) was a $200,000 purchase by Randy Bradshaw out of the 2019 Fasig-Tipton July Sale, then was knocked down to prominent owner Michael Lund Petersen for $700,000 late in the sale at OBSAPR in 2020 after working an eighth of a mile in :10 flat. The bay is out of a daughter of GSW In Conference (Dayjur), the dam of GSP Settle Up (Kris S.) and granddam of MSW & MGSP Foxy Danseur (Mr. Greeley). Sumo, owned in partnership with Albaugh Family Stable, looks to have trained forwardly for this debut, including a half-mile over this strip in :47 1/5 (4/21) Aug. 31. TJCIS PPs

GINA (Maclean's Music), a debut third sprinting over the Colonial main track July 20, stretches out and tries the local all-weather for the first time here. The Godolphin homebred is a daughter of five-time Grade I winner Music Note (A.P. Indy), making her a half-sister to 'TDN Rising Star' and reigning G1 Dubai World Cup hero Mystic Guide (Ghostzapper) and is more closely related to GIII Penn Mile winner Gershwin (Distorted Humor). There is some turf in the family as well, as Music Note's half-sister Musical Chimes (In Excess {Ire}) won the G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches in 2003 and the GI John C. Mabee H. in this country. Saturday Insights: Loaded Maiden Kicks Off Alabama Day Card

Sponsored by Alex Nichols Agency
1st-SAR, $100K, Msw, 2yo, 6 1/2f, post time: 1:05 p.m. ET
While the GI Alabama S. takes centerstage later on in the program, the Saturday lid-lifter at Saratoga looks a key race in prospect, with any number of booming pedigrees and lofty pricetags on display. Peter Leidel signed the ticket at an even $1 million for RAYMOND (Into Mischief) at Keeneland September last fall, with the colt's breeder Stonestreet Stables staying in for a share. The Apr. 21 foal is the third foal to the races from Stonestreet's GSW & GISP Teen Pauline (Tapit), whose daughter Cambria (Speightstown) took out the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Turf Sprint in 2019. Robert Clay's Grandview went to $600,000 for Gilded Age (Medaglia d'Oro) at KEESEP, a son of Grade I-winning juvenile filly Angela Renee (Bernardini), who was purchased by Don Alberto Corp. at Fasig-Tipton November in 2015. The full-sister to MGISW sire To Honor and Serve and half to SW & GISP is from the  family of MGSW India (Hennessy), dam of Japanese dual-surface G1SW Mozu Ascot (Frankel {GB}) and of Silver Strand (Frosted), an impressive Saratoga debut winner Aug. 19. Peter Brant's Triple Elvis (Into Mischief), a $700,000 purchase by Demi O'Byrne out of last year's Fasig-Tipton Selected Yearlings Showcase, is a half-brother to multiple Grade III-winning turf router Made You Look (More Than Ready) and counts the irrepressible 11-time Grade I and Eclipse Award winner Serena's Song (Rahy) as his second dam. The supporting cast includes WinStar Farm & Siena Farm's Napa Valley (Flatter), whose cleverly named dam Mandrell (Dubawi {Ire}) is adaughter of MGISW Country Star (Empire Maker); Jay Em Ess homebred Union Lights (Union Rags), a half-brother to dual Grade I winner By The Moon (Indian Charlie) and GSP Wonderful Light (Tiz Wonderful); and $420,000 KEESEP grad Major General (Constitution). Another 'Mischief'ous Colt Down to Debut…

7th-SAR, $100,000, Msw, 2yo, 6 1/2f, post time: 3:55 p.m. ET
The second division of the maiden lacks perhaps some of the depth of the first, but MY PRANKSTER (Into Mischief) will be well-backed to open his account at first asking. Purchased by Robert and Lawana Low for $600,000 at Fasig-Tipton last September, the bay is the second to the races for his dam My Wandy's Girl (Flower Alley), a champion in Puerto Rico who won was third in the GI Gazelle S. once repatriated and added the GII Barbara Fritchie H. the following season. My Wandy's Girl is a half to the dam of MSW/MGSP Sagauro Row (Union Rags). Triumphant Road (Quality Road) is out of California MGSW turf distaffer Foxysox (GB) (Foxhound), the dam of MSW Curlin's Fox (Curlin). A $310,000 short yearling at KEEJAN in 2020, the dark bay fetched $475,000 at OBS March after breezing in :10 1/5. Reserve Currency (American Freedom) cost $40,000 at FTKSEL last year, but was hammered down to Klaravich Stables for $375,000 at Fasig-Tipton Midlantic in May (breeze), the second most-expensive of 38 of his sire's first-crop juveniles reported as sold this year. Best Looking For Some Headline News at Ellis…

5th-ELP, $51K, Msw, 2yo, 6f, post time: 3:42 p.m. ET
PAGE ONE (Practical Joke) cost Larry Best's OXO Equine $260,000 at KEENOV in 2019, a price which ranks as the second-priciest among the 35 of his sire (by Into Mischief)'s first-crop weanlings sold that year. The Elm Tree Farm-bred colt is out of the stakes-placed Bailzee (Grand Slam) and is a half-brother to the promising Witsel (Nyquist), a debut winner by 13 1/4 lengths over the winter at Tampa and narrow runner-up to 'TDN Rising Star' Beau Liam (Liam's Map) in a stakes-quality first-level allowance at Saratoga July 17. Baffert Debuts Well-Bred Quality Road Pair…

4th-DMR, $70K, Msw, 2yo, 5 1/2f, post time: 6:34 p.m. ET
RHETORIC, a $600,000 KEESEP acquisition, makes his first trip to the races for SF Racing, Starlight Racing and Madaket Stables et al, and is the first produce to race from Hard Not To Like (Hard Spun), winner of the grassy GI Diana S. at Saratoga and the GI Gamely S. on this circuit, who twice realized seven-figure prices when offered at KEENOV–$1.5 million in 2014 and $2.2 million the following year. Hard Not To Like is a half-sister to Credit River (More Than Ready), who belied odds of 41-1 to break his maiden at first asking in the Ontario Racing S. at Woodbine last September. Baoma Corp. paid $400,000 for Kamui at KEENOV in 2019 and attempted to pinhook the colt at KEESEP the following year, only to take him home when bidding stalled out at $875,000. The bay is out of a half-sister to MGSW Tequilita (Union Rags) and hails from the female family of Offlee Wild and Dynaformer. TJCIS PPs

Sponsored by Alex Nichols Agency

1st-DMR, $70K, Msw, 3yo/up, 5 1/2fT, post time: 7:00 p.m. ET
Bred in Australia by the renowned Arrowfield Stud, KAZUHIKO (AUS) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) was purchased for a joint third-highest price of A$1.7 million (US$1,211,760) at the 2019 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale by a partnership including Spendthrift Farm, Kennewell Racing and Group 1 Bloodstock. Trained by Lloyd Kennewell, the Sept. 1 foal was the subject of major betting support ahead of his debut in the G3 National S. at Adelaide's Morphettville Racetrack in South Australa last May, but he could do no better than a green second as the 3-1 favorite (video). Runner-up in a Geelong (Victoria) maiden Sept. 6, he makes his first start since a sixth in soft ground at Ballarat (Victoria) two weeks later. Kazuhiko becomes the fifth of his late sire's progeny to start in the U.S. and is out of a Redoute's Choice (Aus) half-sister to Yell (Aus) (Anabaa), a three-time Group 1 winner and champion sprinter in Australia; and to SW Sung (Aus) (Anabaa), dam of 2019 champion 2-year-old colt Microphone (Aus) (Exceed and Excel {Aus}). Jessica Pyfer claims five pounds from the rail for Richard Mandella and Lasix goes on. TJCIS PPs

Well-Related American Pharoah Colt Gets Going…
5th-ELP, $51K, Msw, 2yo, 5 1/2fT, post time: 3:42 p.m. ET
The cleverly named FAITHFUL RULER (American Pharoah) was bought back on a bid of $55K at last year's Keeneland September sale, but blossomed into a $230K Fasig-Tipton Midlantic juvenile after breezing a furlong in :10 2/5. The Apr. 3 foal is a son of Adeste Fideles (Giant's Causeway), whose G1 Irish 1000 Guineas-winning dam is also responsible for French G1SWs Van Gogh (American Pharoah) and Horatio Nelson (Ire) (Danehill); GSW & MG1SP Viscount Nelson (Giant's Causeway); US GSW Point Piper (Giant's Causeway); and GSW Kitty Matcham (Ire) (Rock of Gibraltar {Ire}). Third dam Doff the Derby (Master Derby) produced champion MG1SW Generous (Ire) (Caerleon). TJCIS PPs
