Derby City 6 Features Carryover of $224,263 For Closing Day Sunday

Bettors have a lucrative $224,263 carryover in the Derby City 6 to chase Sunday at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky., for the Fall Meet's 12-race closing-day program.

There is a mandatory payout in Sunday's 20-cent Derby City 6, which covers Races 7-12 starting at approximately 3:57 p.m. (all times Eastern). The jackpot was not hit through the first 20 days of the Fall Meet and stood at $224,263 at the conclusion of Saturday's action.

All monies will be distributed Sunday to ticket holders with the most winners in the six-race series. Track officials estimate the force-out of Sunday's total Derby City 6 pool to eclipse $1 million with new money.

Takeout on the Derby City 6 is just 15% – one of the lowest multi-race wager takeout rates in American racing – and only costs 20 cents per combination.

Sunday's closing day sequence features 68 entered horses for an average of 11.3 horses per race:

Race 7 (3:57 p.m.): $120,000 maiden special weight for 2-year-old fillies at seven furlongs (16 entries, 12 to run)

Race 8 (4:27 p.m.): $66,000 claiming ($50,000 tag) non-winners of two for fillies and mares at six furlongs (14 entries, 12 to run)

Race 9 (4:57 p.m.): $120,000 maiden special weight for 2-year-olds at 1 1/16 miles (13 entries, 12 to run)

Beat Ray At Del Mar: Will New Challenger ‘Peak’ At Right Time?

XBTV's Zoe Cadman joins host Michelle Yu and Ray Paulick as guest handicapper for the final weekend of the Beat Ray Everyday Beach Boss competition at Del Mar, a free-to-play online contest that gives each player a mythical $100 to wager in win, place and show bets on selected races.

The contest, which takes place each racing day of the Bing Crosby Season, awards the player with the highest mythical bankroll at the end of the meet with two VIP tickets, hotel and a travel stipend to visit the Del Mar summer season. (More information here.)

While Paulick is drowning in bad picks, Cadman comes on strong with her selection of Irish-bred Cathkin Peak in the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby, citing trouble at the start of his last race in the G2 Twilight Derby and a jockey switch to Flavien Prat.

Paulick goes with Beyond Brilliant, a horse that was outrun down the stretch by Cathkin Peak last out. Yu, whose insights have been on target for much of the meet, cautions both players not to overlook Camp Hope, the Kenny McPeek-trained Midwest invader coming off two successive wins at Keeneland.

Watch the season finale of Beach Boss below.

‘All Others’ Remains Favorite In Pool 1 Of Kentucky Derby Future Wager

As of 12 p.m. Saturday, the popular betting option of “All Other Colts and Geldings from the 2019 Foal Crop” remained as the solid 1-2 favorite for the four-day stand of Pool 1 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager.

Individually, the highly-regarded Jack Christopher, who is currently on the sidelines due to a stress fracture in his left shin, is the 8-1 favorite. The Chad Brown trainee is scheduled to resume training in the coming months, according to his connections.

Pool 1 assumes that horses under the care of trainers suspended from competing in the 2022 Kentucky Derby will not be under consideration. To that end, prospects Corniche, Messier, Pinehurst, and Rockefeller are not among the 22 individual betting interests and are included within the pari-mutuel field.

In the Sire Future Wager, the “All Other Sires” betting option was the 5-2 favorite over offspring sired by Gun Runner, who was 6-1, and Quality Road, who was 7-1.

The complete list of horses for Pool 1 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager and Sire Future Wager are available, with real-time odds, on www.KentuckyDerby.com/FutureWager.

Wagering is available online at www.TwinSpires.com, the official ADW of Churchill Downs Incorporated.
