OBS Winter Mixed Sale Catalog Now Online

The catalog for the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's 2021 Winter Mixed Sale is now available via the OBS website at obssales.com.

The two-day sale is set for Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 26 and 27. Supplemental entries are being accepted until Jan. 13. For supplements, click here.

The sale begins on Tuesday, Jan. 26 at 10:30 a.m. with Hip No.'s 1 -177 cataloged in the Consignor Preferred Session. The Horses of Racing Session, cataloged as Hip No.'s 251 – 345 begins immediately following the conclusion of the Preferred Session. The Open Session, with Hip No.'s 451 – 789 cataloged, is set for Wednesday, Jan. 27 and will also begin at 10:30 a.m.

The Under Tack Show for the Horses of Racing Age Section is set for Monday, Jan. 25 and will begin at 9:00 a.m.

The Under Tack Show and Sale will be streamed live via the OBS website as well as the DRF, TDN, BloodHorse and PastTheWire websites.

OBS will again offer online bidding during the Winter Mixed Sale. Buyers will be able to go to the OBS website and register to gain bidding approval, then access the OBS Bidding Screen with their credentials. For complete information on registration and online bidding, click here.

The online catalog's main page contains a link to a sortable master index providing searchable pedigree and consignor information as well as access to pedigree updates occurring since the catalog was printed.

The sortable master index has advanced search and filter capability and allows shortlist creation. A link to instructions for using these features can be found in the index header and a step by step tutorial is available in the index as well.

The iPad version of the catalog can be accessed via the equineline Sales Catalog App. The App allows users to download and view the catalog, receive updates and results, record notes and also provides innovative search, sort and rating capability. Diamond B Farm Earns $250,000 Bonus For First Stakes Winner By Peace And Justice

When Like A Saltshaker crossed the wire in this year's Fitz Dixon, Jr. Memorial Juvenile Stakes at Presque Isle Downs, he made his breeders a quarter of a million dollars richer.

Diamond B Farm, owned by Glenn and Becky Brok, were recently awarded the $250,000 bonus as the breeders of the first stakes winner by Peace And Justice.

According to the stipulations, $250,000 was awarded to the first stakes winner of a non-restricted race from the first-crop of Peace And Justice.

Peace And Justice, the fastest son of sire of sires War Front standing in Pennsylvania, has three wins and five placings from the nine starters in his first-crop.

He will stand for $3,500 LFSN at Blackstone Farm in Pine Grove, Pa., in 2021 and will be available for inspection at the Blackstone Farm Stallion Show on Jan. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Indiana Thoroughbred Alliance Stallion Service Auction Opens December 18

Just in time for the holidays and right before the end of the 2020 tax write-off period, the Indiana Thoroughbred Alliance (ITA) presents their first annual Stallion Service Auction, hosted on Starquine.com.

The auction will kick off at 11 a.m. EST Dec. 18 and run until 7 p.m. EST Dec. 21, with a preview day on Dec. 17.

The auction benefits Thoroughbred aftercare in Indiana, helping to fund such groups like Friends of Ferdinand, Indiana's only Thoroughbred Aftercare Affiliated group.

Superstar stallions from as close as Indiana and Kentucky and as far as California and Florida are highlighted in the auction to entice any potential breeder nationwide.

Top Indiana stallions include:

– Swifty Farm stallions stakes winner Speightsong, Grade 2 winners Ready's Image and Pass Rush, and multiple stakes winners Isotherm and Guys Reward

– Breakway Farm stallions include Forever d'Oro, Skylord and Grade 1 winner Turbo Compressor

Beauty Generation Retired

Beauty Generation (NZ) (Road to Rock {Aus}–Stylish Bel {Aus}, by Bel Esprit {Aus}), a two-time Hong Kong Horse of the Year and only horse to surpass the HK$100 mark in career earnings, has been retired after his fifth in Sunday’s G1 Longines Hong Kong Mile. He will live out his days at Living Legends in Victoria, Australia, alongside other Hong Kong retirees Silent Witness (Aus), Mr Stunning (Aus) and California Memory, among others.

Bred by Nearco Stud Ltd., Beauty Generation was purchased for NZ$60,000 by Kylie Bax’s Hermes Syndications from the Highden Park draft at the NZB National Yearling Sale in 2014 and was sent to race in Australia. Trained by Anthony Cummings as Montaigne, the bay gelding won two of seven starts, including a runner-up effort in the G1 Rosehill Guineas, prior to his purchase by the Kwok Family.

Prepared in Hong Kong by John Moore, Beauty Generation was third to his late stablemate Rapper Dragon (Aus) (Street Boss) in the 2017 BMW Hong Kong Derby and set (and still holds) a track record for 2200 metres, but was reinvented as a 1400-1600m horse for the 2017-2018 season. He carried Derek Leung to a 15-2 upset in the 2017 G1 Longines Hong Kong Mile and Zac Purton was in the irons when wiring the field in the 2018 G1 Champions Mile.

The latter race was the start of an 18-month stretch where nothing could come close to Beauty Generation. In that time he amassed 10 consecutive wins, going back-to-back in the Hong Kong Mile (see below) and the Champions Mile and he peaked on a domestic rating of 138 following a first-up success in the G3 Celebration Cup H. Third in search of a three-peat in the 2019 Hong Kong Mile, he retained his zest for racing to post a second score in the G1 Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup (1400m) last February.  The last of his 18 local victories came in the G2 Chairman’s Trophy in April. David Hayes trained Beauty Generation for three starts this season following Moore’s retirement.

“I knew it may be on the table,” said Purton, who rode the champion 28 times. “It’s a bittersweet day. It’s a sad end. He’s been the best horse for me in my career. I’m certainly going to miss him. He was brave again [in Sunday’s Mile]  and wherever he may go in the world, I’m sure I’ll go and visit him in his paddock one day.”
