2021 NHC Rescheduled For August Due To COVID-19 Precautions

The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) today announced that the 2021 National Horseplayers Championship (NHC) has been rescheduled for Aug. 27-29 at Bally's Las Vegas due to the ongoing impacts of the coronavirus pandemic. The new date is nearly 200 days later than the originally scheduled NHC slated for Feb. 12-14.

“With the support of our partners at Bally's and Caesars Entertainment, we have secured dates that provide us with a great opportunity to host a world class event in the safest possible environment for our participants, guests and employees,” said Keith Chamblin, Chief Operating Officer of the NTRA.

Precautions related to COVID-19 will be finalized and announced as the new date approaches and will be based on the most up-to-date local, state and federal guidance. Bally's and many other Caesars Entertainment properties in Las Vegas already are back open and operating.

The change in date for the 2021 NHC will have no bearing on the current 2020-21 NHC Tour, which remains set to conclude on Jan. 23, 2021. Chamblin said that he anticipates that the 2022 NHC will revert to its traditional February date.
