As part of the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA)'s month-long Holiday Giving Campaign, Denali Stud has pledged to match all donations up to $5,000 made to the TAA Dec. 1.

“Denali Stud proudly supports the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance,” said Denali Stud Owner, Craig Bandoroff. “TAA does the due diligence of accrediting aftercare farms and distributing grants to help care for the horses. It's our obligation, not an option, to fund Thoroughbred aftercare. Join Denali Stud and donate to the TAA's Holiday Giving Campaign today.”

TAA's Holiday Giving Campaign commenced Nov. 29 and is scheduled to conclude New Year's Eve. Those wishing to support the TAA, its 81 accredited organizations, and thousands of retired Thoroughbreds, can donate through the TAA's website or text DONATE to 56651. During the Holiday Giving Campaign, TAA is also offering donors the benefit of sending digital holiday cards to colleagues, friends, and loved ones. Throughout the end of the year, the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance will continue to host special one-day only donation matches with some of horse racing's biggest names.

Repole, BodyArmor, Donate $24 Million to Youth Sports

BodyArmor and its founder, Mike Repole, will donate $24 million to the Mamba and Mambacita Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating positive impact for underserved athletes and boys and girls in sports, the company announced Tuesday. It is the single largest donation that the foundation has ever received. The news was first reported by Front Office Sports.

Repole is the co-owner of Mo Donegal (Uncle Mo), the co-fourth choice at 10-1 in the morning line for Saturday's GI Kentucky Derby.

The Mamba and Mambacita Foundation was founded in memory of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, who were killed in a helicopter crash in 2020. Bryant was one of the early investors in BodyArmor, acquiring 10% of the company for $6 million in 2014, according to Front Office Sports.

In addition to the financial donation, they will also donate eight refurbished basketball courts and renovated youth clinic facilities to the foundation.

Gun Runner Season To Benefit Tornado-Ravaged Western KY

A no-guarantee season to record-setting first-crop sire Gun Runner will be auctioned off at the conclusion of the opening session of next month's Keeneland January Sale Jan. 10, with all proceeds to benefit victims of deadly tornadoes that struck Western Kentucky earlier this month.

“It is unimaginable the damage and suffering wreaked upon so many of the communities and good people of Western Kentucky,” said Three Chimneys Chairman Goncalo Torrealba. “Three Chimneys, our partner Ron Winchell, and the entire Thoroughbred horse industry share the grief of those whose lives have been impacted and this is a way we felt we could directly help.”

The price of the nomination is expected to exceed $100,000. Three Chimneys and Kentucky Downs will add an additional $100,000 for a total of at least $200,000.

Ron Winchell, who owns Kentucky Downs and who campaigned Gun Runner, added, “With Kentucky Downs and Three Chimneys additional donations, it shows the commitment the racing industry has to those affected by the devastation in Western Kentucky.”

All proceeds will go directly to local communities in the affected counties. Inquiries may be directed to the Three Chimneys' farm office at (859) 873-7053 or to the Keeneland sales office for those interested in phone or online bidding on the season.
