Bred by the Bromans, the dark bay is a gelded son of GIII Herecomesthebride S. winner Khancord Kid (Lemon Drop Kid), whose daughter Bar of Gold (Medaglia d'Oro) caused one of the bigger upsets in the history of the Breeders' Cup when taking out the GI Filly & Mare Sprint in 2017, returning $135.40 to her backers. Bar of Gold has gone on to be a producer herself, as she is responsible for Grade III-winning turfer Coinage (Tapit), as well as the placed Chulligan (Justify), an $825,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga graduate. Bar of Gold’s Justify Half-Sister Breaks Maiden With Flourish

IM JUST KIDDIN (f, 2, Justify–Khancord Kid {GSW, $167,343}, by Lemon Drop Kid) scored here at second asking for the same connections of GI Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint shock winner Bar of Gold (Medaglia d'Oro), GISW, $1,551,000, becoming the eighth winner for her freshman sire (by Scat Daddy). Breaking well from the rail as the 4-5 favorite, the Kimmel trainee was outrun early but content to track from fourth behind :22.36 and :45.34 splits. Swung to the outside for her rally, she took aim at frontrunner Highway Harmony (Mo Town) and greenly ran down that pacesetter despite swapping leads in deep stretch. Im Just Kiddin won with ears pricked after finishing second last out on debut July 15 sprinting this distance on the main track. Kingsley Creek (Lord Nelson) flipped behind the gate before the start, and was scratched. Conditioner John Kimmel reported later that she appeared to come out of the incident okay. Im Just Kiddin's aforementioned older half-sister is a graded stakes producer herself as the dam of GIII With Anticipation S. victor Coinage (Tapit), who the Bromans race in partnership with D. J. Stable after he passed through the ring for $450,000 at KEESEP. The victress also claims Land Mine (Mineshaft), SP, $158,342; and stakes-placed Homeland (American Pharoah) as half relations. Dam Khancord Kid (Lemon Drop Kid) claimed the GIII Herecomesthebride in Hallandale as a race-mare, and is half to MSP Crackerjack Jones (Smarty Jones). She herself went on to produce GSW Coinage (Tapit) and $825,000 Fasig-Tipton Select Yearling Sale purchase Chulligan (Justify). Trained by John Kimmel, who also oversaw the career of her successful half-sister, Im Just Kiddin picks up jockey Jose Ortiz for her debut.  TJCIS PPs

   Another homebred, Colts Neck Stables's NETWORKING (Speightstown), goes to the races for the first time on the Jersey Shore. The bay is a son of multiple turf graded winner Social Queen (Dynaformer), who has produced four winners from five to race including this colt's full-brother, GI Belmont Derby Invitational S. winner and $1.3 million earner Force The Pass, as well as 'TDN Rising Star' Affable Monarch (Arrogate). Networking is also from the female family of MGISP Wonder Gal (Tiz Wonderful). He fired a bullet over the grass July 2, working four furlongs in :52 3/5 (1/5) for trainer Jorge Duarte, Jr. TJCIS PPs

New York-Bred 2021 Divisional Championship Nominees Announced

New York Thoroughbred Breeders, Inc. (NYTB) is pleased to announce the nominees for the New York-bred divisional champions of 2021. A panel of New York Turf writers, broadcasters, handicappers, racing analysts and photographers will vote on the winners of each division and the 2021 New York-bred Horse of the Year.

The 2020 New York-bred divisional champions and New York-bred Horse of the Year will be unveiled this summer during the historic Saratoga Race Course meeting. Also to be honored with 2021 awards will be Broodmare of the Year, Champion Trainer, Champion Jockey and Outstanding Breeder.
