Indiana Thoroughbred Alliance Stallion Service Auction Opens December 18

Just in time for the holidays and right before the end of the 2020 tax write-off period, the Indiana Thoroughbred Alliance (ITA) presents their first annual Stallion Service Auction, hosted on Starquine.com.

The auction will kick off at 11 a.m. EST Dec. 18 and run until 7 p.m. EST Dec. 21, with a preview day on Dec. 17.

The auction benefits Thoroughbred aftercare in Indiana, helping to fund such groups like Friends of Ferdinand, Indiana's only Thoroughbred Aftercare Affiliated group.

Superstar stallions from as close as Indiana and Kentucky and as far as California and Florida are highlighted in the auction to entice any potential breeder nationwide.

Top Indiana stallions include:

– Swifty Farm stallions stakes winner Speightsong, Grade 2 winners Ready's Image and Pass Rush, and multiple stakes winners Isotherm and Guys Reward

– Breakway Farm stallions include Forever d'Oro, Skylord and Grade 1 winner Turbo Compressor

– New Indiana stallions and Grade 3 winners Charming Kitten and Calculator, standing at Breakway Farm

– Indiana Stallion Station residents including graded stakes winners Shagaf and Santiva

– Southern Indiana Equine's Grade 3 winner Lantana Mob

Kentucky stallions include:

– Runhappy, Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Sprint winner, owned by Gallery Racing

– Full week's board and broodmare services at Springcliff Farm in Martinsville, Ind.

– $500 voucher for transport in Indiana from West Transport

Central Banker Colt Bankit ‘Always Seems To Show Up And Bring Home A Check’

Winchell Thoroughbreds and Willis Horton Racing's hard-knocking New York-bred Bankit ended a 13-race drought in Saturday's Alex M. Robb over multiple stakes-winner Mr. Buff at Aqueduct racetrack in Ozone Park, N.Y.

The son of New York stallion Central Banker matched his career-best 98 Beyer for the 4 ¾-length victory, a number which he also recorded when finishing third to Funny Guy in the Commentator on June 12 at Belmont Park.

Bankit, trained by Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen, was 0-for-11 during his 2020 campaign until the Alex M. Robb but earned placing six times against stakes company, including two narrow second-place finishes in the Fifth Season and Grade 3 Razorback at Oaklawn Park over the winter, where he was only a head shy of victory.

“He's been running in some pretty tough company from time to time and always seems to show up and bring home a check,” said David Fiske, Winchell Thoroughbreds' racing and bloodstock manager. “He's a durable, consistent horse. He always seems to show up no matter who you run him against.”

No future plans have yet been made for Bankit, but Fiske said that options include shipping down to Asmussen's winter division at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas, or staying in New York.

“We haven't really talked about it much. We were all just excited about him winning and the way he won yesterday, he looked great against that bunch,” Fiske said. “He seems to like Aqueduct pretty well. Whether he'll go back down to Oaklawn or not, I don't know. Some of that may depend on weather. Sometimes, you get long stretches where you can't train and stay in a regular rhythm in works.”

The Alex M. Robb marked Bankit's third stakes victory and fourth overall win through a 26-race career. During his juvenile season, he was an emphatic 5 ¾-length winner of the Sleepy Hollow at Belmont Park and took Finger Lakes' New York Derby the following year.

Bred in the Empire State by Hidden Brook Farm and Blue Devil Racing, Bankit is out of the Colonel John mare Sister in Arms. He was purchased for $260,000 from the OBS March Sale in 2018.

Manor House, Colt From First Crop By Upstart, Runs Away From Laurel Park Foes In Debut

Newtown Anner Stud Farm's Manor House, a juvenile colt from the first crop by multiple graded-stakes winning millionaire Upstart, was never threatened romping by 12 ¼ lengths in his career debut Saturday at Laurel Park in Laurel, Md.

Ridden by Victor Carrasco for trainer Michael Stidham, Manor House ($10.80) ran one mile in 1:38.31 over a fast main track in the maiden special weight for 2-year-olds. Dream Big Dreams, the 6-5 favorite also making his first start for meet-leading trainer Brittany Russell, edged Rippolino by a neck for a distant second.

Manor House, out of the Dixie Union mare Cascina, outran 25-1 longshot Camp Pendleton for the lead and went the opening quarter-mile in 24.10 and a half in 47.50, when Camp Pendleton moved within a half-length of the front-runner. Manor House got his cue on the turn and opened up with ease on his rivals, galloping to the wire under a hand ride.

Instilled Regard To Stand At Taylor Made Stallions In 2021

Grade 1 winner Instilled Regard will begin his stud career at Taylor Made Stallions in Nicholasville, Ky., for the 2021 breeding season, the farm announced Friday on social media.

The 5-year-old son of Arch will stand for an advertised fee of $12,500. His retirement to stud was announced on Tuesday, along with the revelation that his first book of mares would include Breeders' Cup Distaff winner Blue Prize. Both horses are owned by Larry Best's OXO Equine.

Instilled Regard finished fourth the 2018 Kentucky Derby, behind Triple Crown winner Justify, Good Magic, and Audible.

He won the Grade 3 Lecomte Stakes as a 3-year-old, then he took the G2 Ft. Lauderdale Stakes at four. His most successful season came this year at age five, which included victories in the G1 Manhattan Stakes and G2 Fort Marcy Stakes.

In total, he finished his on-track career with five wins in 18 starts for earnings of $983,240.

Instilled Regard is out of the winning Forestry mare Enhancing. His second dam is the champion Heavenly Prize, putting him in the family of Grade 1 winners Oh What a Windfall, Good Reward, and Persistently, as well as Grade 2 winner Pure Prize.
