Fasig-Tipton Launches Fasig-Tipton Digital; Nominations Now Open For March Digital Selected Sale

Fasig-Tipton will debut its new standalone digital auction platform – Fasig-Tipton Digital – with a March Digital Selected Sale to be held on March 17-22.

“We are excited to officially launch Fasig-Tipton Digital, which will serve as a complement to our traditional live auction calendar,” said Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning. “The Thoroughbred business is increasingly focused on creating liquidity by selling horses at opportune times, and this platform allows us to serve the marketplace by facilitating those transactions. Our approach will be the same as it is for a live auction – establish a quality marketplace for buyers and sellers, supported by the outstanding customer service that our clients have come to expect from Fasig-Tipton.”

Fasig-Tipton is now accepting nominations for its inaugural March Digital Selected Sale. Sellers are encouraged to nominate by March 8, although the company will accept selected supplemental entries after that date. The company is seeking quality horses of racing age, broodmares, racing/broodmare prospects, and broodmare prospects.

The catalog will go online at digital.fasigtipton.com on Thursday, March 17, and bidding will open at that time. Bidding will close on Tuesday, March 22. Consignors will have the ability to promote their horses via a varied suite of tools that will in turn provide prospective buyers with the resources and information they need to make informed purchasing decisions.

“As we launch Fasig-Tipton Digital, our initial approach will be to focus entirely on quality over quantity,” said Leif Aaron, Fasig-Tipton director of digital sales. “This platform and its inaugural March sale should be especially attractive to sellers that want to take advantage of a significant update in a race record or pedigree, or the recent success of a mare's covering sire.”

To nominate to Fasig-Tipton's March Digital Selected Sale please contact Leif Aaron at laaron@fasigtipton.com or by calling (859) 255-1555.

Prospective buyers and sellers wishing to receive news and updates about Fasig-Tipton Digital sales may now sign up for email alerts at digital.fasigtipton.com.

Graded Stakes Winner Warren’s Showtime Euthanized

Ben and Sally Warren's homebred Warren's Showtime, a multiple graded stakes winner and California-bred champion, sustained a devastating injury to a foreleg while training Saturday at Santa Anita Park and was euthanized.

“We were marveling at how beautiful she moved, and how easy she was going,” trainer Craig Lewis told Daily Racing Form. “She switched leads, took a bad step, and broke her leg.”

The 5-year-old mare from the first crop of Clubhouse Ride was out of the Warrens' Grade 1 winner Warren's Veneda, by Affirmative. She compiled a 8-5-10 record from 26 career starts that included wins in the a pair of Grade 3 stakes: the 2021 Wilshire Stakes and 2020 Autumn Miss Stakes, both at Santa Anita, and placed second or third in six other graded events, including a third at the highest level in the 2020 Del Mar Oaks (G1). Moquest, Full-Brother To Nyquist, Enters Stud At Milky Way Farm In California

Moquest, a full-brother to champion and leading freshman sire Nyquist, will stand his debut season at stud at Milky Way Farm in Temecula, Calif., in 2022 for an advertised fee of $4,500.

The 3-year-old colt is by leading sire Uncle Mo, who has amassed over $80 million in progeny earnings, and is the sire of 42 graded stakes winners, including Grade 1 winners Golden Pal, Yaupon, and Kentucky Derby hopeful Mo Donegal, winner of the G2 Remsen Stakes. Uncle Mo is also the sire of Adare Manor, winner of the Grade 3 Las Virgenes Stakes.

Uncle Mo was a top-10 general sire and second-leading turf sire in 2021. Last year, Uncle Mo's sales yearlings averaged $270,915, including two yearlings that sold last year for $1.6 million and $1.1 million. His 2-year-olds averaged $287,786 last year, including a $1.3 million purchase by the Coolmore partnership's M.V. Magnier at the Fasig Tipton Gulfstream Select 2-Year-Olds In Training Sale

Moquest is a full-brother to champion 2-year-old, Kentucky Derby winner, and Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner Nyquist, the leading cumulative second-crop sire by earnings. Nyquist has 11 graded stakes 2-year-olds from his first two crops. He was also the second-leading second-crop general and turf sire by earnings in 2021.

Nyquist is the sire of Kentucky Derby hopeful Slow Down Andy, winner of the G2 Los Alamitos Futurity. He is also the sire of Turnerloose, who is currently ranked first by Kentucky Oaks qualifying points, as well as Oaks contender Awake at Midnyte.

In 2021, Nyquist's sale yearlings averaged $151,826 and his 2-year-olds averaged $328,167 including the sale-topper at Fasig Tipton Gulfstream Sale selling for $2.6 million to M.V. Magnier.

Both Moquest and Nyquist are out of the top producing mare, Seeking Gabrielle out of the Grade 1 winner Forestry. Seeking Gabrielle has produced several million-dollar yearlings, lead by her Tapit son, selling for $2.6 million.

To date, her progeny have sold for a combined $5.4 million. Forestry has been an exceptional broodmare sire, producing 72 stakes winners as of 2021, his notable daughters have produced not only Nyquist, but Instilled Regard, Bobby's Kitten, Rushing Fall and Chewing Gum.

On his own accord, Moquest sold to the Coolmore partnership for $650,000 at the 2020 Keeneland September Sale. However, an early training injury prevented the colt from racing.

Moquest will be supported in the breeding shed by his owners, EAS Alliance LLC, which will breed a number of mares to him. He crosses well with Unusual Heat & Square Eddie mares.
