Bettor Appreciation: $50,000 Seeded Into Closing Day Pick 5 At Indiana Grand

Indiana Grand Racing & Casino will wrap up the record setting season of Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing Thursday, Nov. 11 for a special Veteran's Day celebration beginning at 2:25 p.m. The day will also feature a Bettor Appreciation program with Indiana Grand placing $50,000 of added money into the Pick 5 in recognition of the racing fans who supported the 19th season of Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing in 2021.

“We have had such a good year and we've been looking for a way to give back to all of the racing fans who supported us this year,” said Eric Halstrom, Vice President and General Manager of Racing. “We have saved this money for the Pick 5 pool as a way to say, 'thank you' to those who have been so loyal in watching and wagering on Indiana Grand this season.”

The Pick 5 pool will consist of the final five Thoroughbred races on the program. To take the promotion a step further, 20 handicappers from across the nation will be given $250 to place into the wager with all proceeds from those tickets going directly to Homeless Veterans and Families, Inc. (HVAF) of Indiana.

“We wanted to honor those who served our country with something special on Veteran's Day,” added Halstrom. “HVAF provides so much for veterans in our region, from assistance with accommodations and food to employment and extended education programs. A few years ago, our jockeys collected more than 360 pounds worth of peanut butter for HVAF, a staple in their food bank. We will earmark these Pick 5 tickets from some of the top handicappers in the nation directly to the programs at HVAF.”

In addition to the $50,000 added money for the Pick 5, the inaugural running of the $75,000 Salute The Heroes Stakes race will be contested. Also, an ice scraper mitt and Veteran's Day tumbler will be given away to racing fans on track while supplies last. Finally, a special $1,000 Veteran's Day Warriors Handicapping Contest will take place for racing fans both on-track and online with the top five handicappers receiving a share of the $1,000 prize money.

The 19th season of Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing concludes Thursday, Nov. 11. Live racing is conducted at 2:25 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 11. First post all other Thursdays leading up to the end of the meet begin at 3:25 p.m. More information about the 2021 racing season is available at www.caesars.com/indiana-grand.
