In this article I describe how the ranking works for different hands in the card game bragg. There are a number of different versions of bragg and I will describe the most popular version here. I will start with the highest rank of hand and will also include the probability of obtaining each hand and the amount of possible combinations for each hand.

A prial

A prial is where you have three cards of the same number or rank.

The highest prial is actually a prial of threes, where most people would presume it would be a prial of aces. The prial of aces is the second highest rank of prial and a prial of twos
is the lowest rank.

There are fifty-two possible combinations of prial and the probability of being dealt this hand is 0.24%.

Running flush

A running flush is where you have three cards of the same suit in a sequence.

Unlike in poker where ace, two, three, four, five would be classed as the lowest rank of running flush, in bragg ace, two, three is the highest. This is followed by ace, king, queen, and four, three, two is the lowest.

There are forty-eight possible combinations of running flush and the probability of being dealt this hand is 0.22%.

These figures of probability and possible combinations are actually quite strange as it shows that it is slightly easier to obtain a prial than a running flush. You would therefore think that the royal flush would be the highest rank of hand in bragg, but of course, as already explained it isn’t.

A Run

A run is where you have three cards which are not all of the same suit in a sequence.

As with the royal flush ace, two, three is the highest rank of run, followed by ace, king, queen. Four, three, two is the lowest rank of run.

There are seven hundred and twenty possible combinations of run and the probability of being dealt this hand is 3.26%.

Flush

This is where you have three cards of the same suit which are not in a sequence.

As in poker the highest rank of flush will have an ace in. If two people on the table have an ace flush, it is then decided who wins by the rank of the second highest card. At times people have the same rank of highest and second highest card, at this point the rank of the lowest card comes into play. For example player one has ace of clubs, queen of clubs and five of clubs. Player two has ace of spades, queen of spades and four of spades. In this example player one would win.

There are one thousand and ninety-six possible combinations of flush and the probability of being dealt this hand is 4.96%.

Pair

This is where you have a pair of the same rank with a spare card. Where two people on the table have a pair, it is the player with the highest rank of pair which wins. If both players have the same rank of pair, the one with the highest rank of its spare card wins.

Strangely enough over ninety percent of hands are no higher in rank than a pair.

There are three thousand, seven hundred and forty-four possible combinations of pair and the probability of being dealt this hand is 16.94%.

High card

This is where you have no combinations and basically just have a high card. The highest rank of card in this situation would be the ace and the lowest a two.

There are sixteen thousand, four hundred and forty possible combinations of high card and the probability of being dealt this hand is 74.39%.

As you can see it is not easy to obtain a decent hand in bragg and in fact most hands which are dealt are pretty rubbish. This is why it is such a great game for people who like to bluff.

Bragg is a very popular game in social clubs and card schools up and down the country and is an ancestor to poker.

As well as three card bragg, people also play a seven and nine card version.

The game of poker is really strategic and as in all games of strategy in this game you will find that there are some weak player and some strong players. The strong players devour the weak players and take their money off them. In poker, a weak or bad player is known as a fish, while a strong or good player is known as a shark.

According to the law of nature, the stronger shark kills the weaker fish. In the same way in poker, the bad players become the prey of good player. If you want to survive as a poker player you must win the game; unless you win game the chance of your survival becomes less, especially in a tournament game where you need to collect chips.

The winning in this game is dependant upon strategy and luck; if you follow right strategy then you can win the game. Further there is no such absolute right strategy to win every game; each time you play you are playing against new players, also different games may require different strategies, the poker shark is always familiar with the rules of the game and knows all the tips and strategies such as table positioning, the shark uses these to his advantage meanwhile the fish has never even heard of table positioning.

The connotation fish and shark is very much associated with this strategy of the game. According to the poker terminology, fish is a player who des not know any strategy. While playing the game the bad player make wild chases and try to play with long-shot hands. Such bad players depend on the luck to win the game and they have to play against all odds. On the other hand the good player is equipped with different winning strategy and keeps the ability to win the game. Many new beginners want to be a master of this game in a short time; they go through many articles, reading everything they can and searching websites to gather information. Remember there is no short cut in this game; you have to learn every trick and strategy.

We can say that the poker imitates the animal kingdom, where there are both predators and prey coexist side by side. The predators or good payers will seek the prey or the bad players to win the game. It is the responsibility of the bad player to flee from the table at right moment.

There is still speculation as to where the roulette game originates from. Some declare that it is derived from China and was brought by traders and Dominican monks from the Far East to the Americas. Others claim that the roulette game comes from France, the word being French word for “small wheel”, and was created by an unruly French mathematician, Blaise Pascal in the 17th century.

Monaco still remains a strong convert to the roulette game because in the 18th century Prince Charles thought that it would be a convenient way to keep the economy of the small principality afloat. When the game came to the Americas in the middle of the 19th Century the invention of the single “O” was introduced by Frenchmen, Louis and Francois Blanc. However the American game now plays the double “O” game while the European game still constitutes the single “0” game. The double O game enables the house to make a higher profit. The roulette game proved to have something of a milestone in the California Gold Rush obviously attracted to the large amounts of money to be made.

There are two different ways of playing roulette, there are two different wheels that are played and these are the American wheel and the European wheel. The difference is minimal in that the American wheel has 38 numbers including 0, 00 and 1 to 36. The European wheel contains 37 numbers including 0 and the numbers 1 to 36. Other differences between the two varying forms of roulette are that in American casinos, the dealers will use their hands to draw in the bets while the European croupiers use a long stick called the Rake to collect the chips. Also in America the roulette players are given different color chips and in Europe they are given the same color chips. Roulette continues to be a very popular game especially in Europe.
