The two-day Goffs UK August Sale came to a close on Thursday with the sale's traditional store session being joined by a section of yearlings that were intended to be sold at the firm's January Sale that was delayed by Covid. It was a yearling colt by Blue Bresil (Fr) (lot 366) that led trade on Thursday, the grandson of the Grade 1-winning hurdler Lady Rebecca (GB) (Rolfe) knocked down to R.B.S. Ltd for £44,000. Another Blue Bresil yearling colt (lot 389) was picked up by Pine Tree for £42,000, and that price was also achieved by a 3-year-old daughter of Authorized (Ire) (lot 261), who was bought by Highflyer Bloodstock.
Goffs UK Managing Director Tim Kent said, “Today has capped off a good two days of selling and it's great to see a successful NH yearling session following all the issues we faced earlier in the year. We made the decision to hold the sale on the revised date after consultation with the UK breeders who had to hold onto these horses for a lot longer than planned, so we are very grateful that everyone has been so accommodating and helped to make today such a huge success.
“A big positive for everyone has been the ability to host a sale with limited COVID restrictions which is something that we have all been looking forward to for some time. The sale also hosted the Goffs UK sponsored TBA NH Breeders' Awards last night, which was moved from its traditional May date, again due to COVID restrictions, and to be able to celebrate that with the largest audience in the event's history was superb. The two-days have certainly felt far more 'normal' and bodes well for our Premier and Silver Yearling Sales which are now just under three weeks away.”
