Woodbine Cancels Sunday Card Due To Extreme Heat Forecast; Storms Wash Out Canterbury Park Races

Due to extreme heat and high humidity in the weather forecast for the Toronto area, Woodbine Entertainment canceled Sunday's card at the Rexdale, Ontario racetrack for equine welfare and the safety of all racing participants.

Sunday's races at Canterbury Park in Minnesota were also cancelled due to heavy rains.

Woodbine's Georgian Bay Stakes and Lake Huron Stakes have been rescheduled for Friday, with a post time of 1 p.m. (ET).

The 2022 Thoroughbred meet at Woodbine continues Thursday, with a new a post time of 4:50 p.m.

Heavy rain storms hit the Shakopee, Minn., area Saturday and into the morning hours on Sunday leading to that evening's card to be cancelled after the first three races were run over a muddy track. On Sunday, after jockeys met with the track maintenance team and voiced safety concerns with the main track, management opted to cancel Sunday's eight-race program.

Racing will resume Wednesday at 5 p.m.
