Winchell Thoroughbreds' recent $160,000 Leslie's Lady Overnight Stakes winner Wicked Halo headlines a field of seven 3-year-old fillies that were entered in Saturday's $200,000 Tepin Stakes at Churchill Downs.
The one-mile Tepin, which was originally scheduled for the turf but will now be run on the main track, will go as Race 6 with a post time of 3:23 p.m. First post is 12:45 p.m. Saturday's Stephen Foster Day program is headlined by the $750,000 Stephen Foster (G2) along with a quartet of other stakes events – the $350,000 Fleur de Lis (G2), $200,000 American Derby (Listed) and $160,000 Kelly's Landing Overnight Stakes.
Trained by Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen, Wicked Halo scored a 2 ¾-length victory three weeks ago in the Leslie's Lady under leading rider Tyler Gaffalione. The gray daughter of Gun Runner also won last year's $200,000 Adirondack (G2). Gaffalione will once again have the call from post No. 4.
Other accomplished fillies that entered the Tepin are Juddmonte's recent 3 ¼-legnth allowance winner Patna, Randy Patterson's multiple stakes placed Verylittlecents and Susan Moulton's $200,000 Rags to Riches winner Sandstone.
Here's the complete field from the rail out (with jockey and trainer):
- Hearty Constitution (Luis Saez, Joe Sharp)
- Patna (Florent Geroux, Brad Cox)
- Verylittlecents (Jon Court, Randy Morse)
- Wicked Halo (Gaffalione, Asmussen)
