Expected to be crowned Champion 2-Year-Old Filly for 2022 after her win in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies, Wonder Wheel returned to the work tab for the first time since that victory on Jan. 11, 2023. The 3-year-old daughter of Into Mischief breezed three furlongs in 35.4 seconds at conditioner Mark Casse's training center in Ocala, Fla.
Casse posted a video on social media showing a portion of that workout:

On Monday, Casse told the Daily Racing Form he could target the Suncoast Stakes on Feb. 11 at Tampa Bay Downs for the filly's sophomore debut. Alternatively, Wonder Wheel may be pointed to the March 4 Davona Dale Stakes at Gulfstream, though Breeders' Cup runner-up Leave No Trace is also expected to target that spot.
“Right now, [the Suncoast is] part of the plan,” Casse told DRF. “I want to see how she trains and I don't want to rush her, but her first work back was really good.”
