Off the pace early, Trinity Farm's homebred Red Knight tipped out entering the lane, ran down the leaders with ground-devouring strides, and pulled clear to win the $600,000 Man o' War (G1) Saturday at Belmont Park.
The 9-year-old Pure Prize gelding, ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr., was winning for the 12th time from 34 career starts and tallied his first Grade 1 win.
Red Knight returned $12.80 for the victory after covering the 1 3/8-mile turf contest in 2:13.74.
British-bred Soldier Rising edged Strong Tide for the runner-up spot.
Bred in New York, Red Knight is trained by Mike Maker. His dam is the Skip Away mare Isabel Away.
