Undefeated in her four career starts, KHK Racing's Shahama will soon head to the United States for a try in the 2022 Kentucky Oaks, Dubai Racing TV's Michael Adolphson revealed on Twitter this weekend.
The 3-year-old daughter of Munnings, a half-sister to champion Lookin at Lucky, will be under the care of Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher.
Shahama's most recent victory came in the Grade 3 UAE Oaks at Meydan, in which she missed the break and circled the entire field before winning by two lengths. That win earned her 50 points toward a start in the Kentucky Oaks.
Trained in Dubai by Fawzi Nass, Shahama's other wins include the listed UAE 1,000 Guineas by 3 3/4 lengths and the UAE 1,000 Guineas Trial by 2 1/2 lengths.
Bred in Kentucky by SF Bloodstock, Shahama was purchased from consignor Eddie Woods at the OBS April sale of 2-year-olds in training for $425,000.
