Trainer Robertino Diodoro became the 37th North American trainer to reach 3,000 career wins Saturday when Arthurian won the second race at Oaklawn Park.
Guided by Cristian Torres, Arthurian took charge soon after the start and scored by two lengths in the six-furlong race for $10,000 claimers. The 4-year-old Oxbow gelding, owned by Aaron, Heath, and Sheena Campbell, finished the trip in 1:10.59 and returned $3.60.
A native of Calgary, Alberta, Diodoro enjoyed his first career victory Aug. 2, 1995 at Northlands Park.
Diodoro, 48, recorded his 2,999th career victory in Friday afternoon's fifth race at Oaklawn with Released. Diodoro leads the 2022-2023 Oaklawn standings with 15 victories through the first 10 days of the meeting, which began Dec. 9, and $736,972 in purse earnings.
Diodoro's 14,378 starters have amassed purse earnings of more than $60.2 million.
