Taylor Made Farm has partnered with the Shepherd's House to create a 90-day groom training program for recovering addicts in Lexington, Ky., reports wymt.com. When program participants graduate, they are offered a job with Taylor Made or another horse farm.
“The horse industry, like all industries, is struggling to get good team members working for them,” said Frank Taylor. “Plus, the people in recovery need a second chance. A lot of them would not be hired by your average employer.”
Shepherd's House is a residential recovery program which, over a highly structured 12-18 month period, promotes personal responsibility and accountability for those seeking sustained abstinence from mind altering substances. More information about the Shepherd's House is available on the program's website.
