Sixth CHOA Conference Held

The sixth China Horse Owners Alliance (CHOA) conference was held at Yulong International Hotel on Sept. 2. Zhang Yuesheng, who owns Yulong Horse Group, was reelected as the Chairman of CHOA. CHOA Secretary-General and Vice-Chairman Huang Quincai revealed that 60 million RMB/$9.3 million will be devoted to Chinese prizemoney over the next three years, with 10 million RMB for use in 2022, 20 million RMB set aside for 2023 and 30 million RMB allocated for 2024. There are also now 27 stallions in China whose progeny are eligible for CHOA races including Group 1 winner Sousa (NZ) (Galileo {Ire}).

Topping the Sept. 3 Yulong Autumn Sale, organised by Yulong and Zhongxin Auction, was a Sousa (NZ) yearling half-brother to dual Chinese Horse of the Year Hui Tong Tian Xia (Chn), who brought 600,000RMB ($93,000). After her full-sister Shen Qi Shi Zu (Chn) (Sousa {NZ}) won the 600,000RMB ($124,930) CHOA Breeders' Cup over 1000 metres on Sept. 4, a yearling filly was privately purchased by Wang Dequan, an Inner Mongolia horse owner and CHOA Vice-Chairman for 800,000RMB/$124,000.
