Postponed On The Move To Yorton Stud

Multiple Group 1 winner Postponed (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) will move to Yorton Stud for the 2024 breeding season after Yorton and James & Jean Potter, Ltd. purchased the stallion from Darley. A fee will be announced later for the four-time Group 1 winner.

Previously under the Darley banner at Dalham Hall Stud, the bay will stand to the Futter family's stud near Welshpool in Powys. Richard Venn brokered the deal.

David Futter said of the son of Ever Rigg (GB) (Dubai Destination), “Postponed is a proper horse that any stallion master would welcome to their line-up of National Hunt sires. He is a wonderful addition to the Yorton roster.

“Postponed's oldest stock are only four, yet his young hurdlers are producing some wonderful results. From 12 individual runners five have won, four have been placed and two gained places in black-type races.

“He represents everything we look for in a sire. He raced enthusiastically from the age of two to six, he won four Group 1 races including the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth S. and the Coronation Cup, he retired sound, he has size and scope and the most wonderful mind.”

Postponed, who has G3 Nell Gwyn S. second Almohandesah (GB) to his credit, will stand alongside Arrigo (Ger) (Shirocco {Ger}), Gentlewave (Ire) (Monsun {Ger}), Ito (Ger) (Adlerflug {Ger}), and Pether's Moon (Ire) (Dylan Thomas {Ire}).

George Stanners Re-Joins Goffs

Goffs has announced that George Stanners has re-joined the company in a client liaison and auctioning role in Ireland and the UK.

Stanners spent 17 years working with Goffs UK before taking up the position as bloodstock manager at Yorton Farm last year.

He remains a consultant to the leading breeding operation but Goffs chief executive Henry Beeby has described his delight at seeing Stanners return to the company he joined straight out of school.

Beeby said, “We are delighted George is back with us as he was always a popular and highly effective member of the team.

“His new role will see him engage with vendors and purchasers for all Goffs and Goffs UK sales, inspecting and recruiting for our portfolio of sales in Kildare, Doncaster and our specialist boutique sales at the likes of Aintree, Punchestown and Sandown, and then working with our Purchaser Attraction Teams to promote each catalogue to buyers.

“At the same time he will maintain the superb link with Dave Futter and his team at Yorton as we evolve and develop that mutually beneficial relationship.”

Beeby added: “His presence on the rostrum at every sale in Kildare and Doncaster will only enhance our exceptional panel of auctioneers as he is a world-class operator with a unique and highly effective style.”

Stanners said: “I'm pleased to return to a role with Goffs and be back on the rostrum on a more consistent basis. Being on the ground visiting breeders and trainers is something I have always enjoyed, so I look forward to assisting them both at home and at sales throughout the year.

“Alongside my Goffs commitments, I will continue to work closely with both Yorton and the Potter family as they trade both on and off their farms at Leighton, which is another aspect I relish.

“Goffs and Yorton share many mutual clients so my new Goffs role will only be complemented by my ongoing connection with Yorton.”

Ito, Brother to In Swoop, Joins Yorton Stud

David Futter's Yorton Stud has announced the arrival of Ito (Ger), a Group 1-winning son of the late German champion sire Adlerflug (Ger) and full-brother to German Derby winner In Swoop (Ire).

Bred by Gestut Schlenderhan, Ito was himself the champion older horse in Germany in 2015, the year in which he won the G1 Grosser Preis von Bayern. His dam is also a Classic winner, the Preis der Diana victrix Iota (Ger) (Tiger Hill {Ire}).

“We are very excited to have acquired Ito, whose profile speaks for itself,” said Futter.

“He is a gorgeous-looking horse, standing 16.2hh and getting very good-looking stock, and his temperament is exactly what we look for in a stallion – to us that is as important as their race record. He won as a three-year-old, excelled at four and held his form at five.

“The sad death of Adlerflug last year was a blow to breeders, but Ito provides a wonderful opportunity to get into that sire's precious bloodline.”

Along with his Group 1 win, Ito as also runner-up in the G1 Grosser Preis Von Berlin and won two Group 2 races, earning a Timeform rating of 125.

Having initially retired to stud in Germany, Ito's first crop of runners are now four-year-olds. His fee will be announced at a later date.
