The Wesley Ward trainee has a trio of gelding half-brothers who have won stakes in Europe, including Ross Castle (Ire) (Bushranger {Ire}), Snazzy Jazzy (Ire) (Red Jazz) and Ten Year Ticket (Ire) (Rock of Gibraltar (Ire).

Also drawn is Ready for Shirl (More Than Ready), who is out of GI Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf victress Perfect Shirl (Perfect Soul {Ire}). Both were bred and raced by Charles Fipke, along with Perfect Shirl's half-sister MGSW Lady Shakespeare (Theatrical {Ire}), the dam of another Fipke homebred, Canadian three-time champion Lady Speightspeare (Speightstown). Perfect Shances Becomes First Winner For Shancelot

PERFECT SHANCES (f, 2, Shancelot–American Baby, by Bayern)
became her freshman sire's first to get her picture taken. The bay took most of the action at the windows as she went off as the 1-2 favorite after drilling regularly at three furlongs over the course of March and into this month. As she battled sheets of rain, the filly made the front and moved to the rail around the far turn. The homebred straightened in control for the drive down the lane and splashed home by 4 3/4 lengths over Citizen Judy (American Freedom). The first winner sired by GSW/MGISP Shancelot (by Shanghai Bobby), Perfect Shances is her unraced dam's first and only registered foal. American Baby, who counts as a full-sister SW Sweet Harmony, is out of GSP Sweet Marini (Marino Marini), herself a half-sister to SW Excessivespending (Shackleford). The rail-drawn Douglas Scharbauer homebred was hustled to the front beneath John Velazquez, kicked for home under very confident handling and was never seriously asked for run while crossing the wire 2 1/4 lengths clear of Tuxedo Park (Complexity). Fandom Returns a Winner for Wesley Ward and Stonestreet in Palisades

Unraced since fading from contention in last summer's G2 Coventry S. at Royal Ascot, FANDOM (GB) (c, 3, Showcasing {GB}–Brogan {GB}, by Pivotal {GB}) returned a winner at the same meet where he broke his maiden while under wraps last spring, taking the Palisades S. at Keeneland Sunday. Racing wide under Jose Ortiz, who was winning his third consecutive race on the card, the 7-1 shot closed with a strong late surge to get by a group of runners on the line that included MGSW No Nay Mets (Ire) (No Nay Never). The latter got outpunched late after sizzling fractions of :21.59, :44.53, and :56.55.

“Last summer at Saratoga he had a lung infection, so we sent him back to [owner] Barbara [Banke's] farm to Ian [Brennan] and they got him healed up,” said winning trainer Wesley Ward of the 170,000gns Tattersalls yearling purchase. “They trained him all winter long and did a fantastic job. The first day he got here I knew all I had to do was put him on cruise control.”

Fandom's dam, a half to 2023 G1 Juddmonte Cheveley Park S. winner Lezoo (GB) (Zoustar {Aus}), has produced fillies the last two years in the UK: a now-2-year-old by Masar (Ire) and a yearling by Zoustar (Aus).
