Wanamaker’s Releases August Catalogue

Wanamaker's, host of monthly online Thoroughbred auctions, has released the catalogue for the organization's 2023 August Sale, which can be seen in its entirely at wanamakers.com with pedigrees, pictures, and videos. The auction will feature 28 individual offerings, including yearlings and in-foal broodmares, as well as horses of racing age, open broodmares, broodmare prospects, and a weanling. In-person inspections may be scheduled directly with the sellers.

Bidding will open Thursday, Aug. 31 at 8:00 a.m. ET, with the first listing set to close at 5:00 p.m. ET. Subsequent listings will close in three-minute increments. Detailed information on the buying process can be found at wanamakers.com/buy.

Wanamaker’s June Catalogue Online

The catalogue for the Wanamaker's June Sale is now available for viewing at wanamakers.com. The catalogue features yearlings, horses of racing age, broodmare prospects, in-foal mares and a stallion prospect.

Among the horses available are:

Four Pennsylvania-bred yearlings by freshman sire Maximus Mischief, Jimmy Creed, Mor Spirit and Mucho Macho Man;
The 4-year-old mare Slot Queen (Speightstown), a two-time winner out of a multiple stakes-placed half-sister to two full black-type winners in foal to Sharp Azteca;
The stakes-placed 8-year-old mare Spirit of Shanghai (Shanghai Bobby) in foal to Aloha West;
Quintile (Langfuhr), in foal to Core Beliefs and the dam of three horses of racing age have achieved six-figure pricetags up to $210,000;
Maximus Aurelius (Tapit), whose champion dam Close Hatches (First Defence) is responsible for MGSW & MGISP sire Tacitus (Tapit) and undefeated 'TDN Rising Star' Scylla (Tapit) and is a full-sister to the dam of recent GIII Shawnee S. winner Idiomatic (Curlin). The 5-year-old sells as a racing/stallion prospect

Wanamaker’s New York-Bred Catalogue Online

The catalogue for the second annual New York-Bred Horses of Racing Age Sale hosted by the digital auction company Wanamakers, in conjunction with New York Thoroughbred Breeders, Inc., is now available online at wanamakers.com. Bidding will open June 8 at 8 a.m. ET, with the first listing set to close at 5 p.m. Subsequent listings will close in three-minute increments.

Highlights of the catalog include: Cinderella's Cause (Congrats), a 5-year-old racing/broodmare prospect who most recently won a first-level, state-bred allowance at Belmont Park and is entered to run June 1; Liberty Flame (Bellamy Road), a 4-year-old two-time winner who is eligible for allowance and starter conditions; Slant (Union Rags), an unraced 2-year-old who is half-brother to stakes winner and Grade III-placed Conquest Hardcandy (Candy Ride {Arg}); and Stewie (Exaggerator), an unraced 2-year-old colt whose dam is a half-sister to the multiple-graded stakes winner Nikki's Sandcastle.

Wanamaker’s and NYTB Partner Again for Online Sale

The New York Thoroughbred Breeders' Inc. (NYTB) is partnering again with the online Thoroughbred auction company Wanamaker's to provide a New York-bred horses of racing age sale. The auction has been set for Thursday, Jun. 8, two days before the 155th running of the GI Belmont S. at Belmont Park, Wanamakers announced on Monday.

Entries for the sale will close on May 30, and the catalogue will be released on May 31.

“We are thrilled to once again partner with Wanamaker's to give buyers and sellers the opportunity to market and purchase New York-bred horses of racing age ahead of the summer racing season in New York,” NYTB Executive Director Najja Thompson said. “Following last year's sale, we received an overwhelming amount of good feedback. Looking to improve on the format to the utmost benefit of buyers and sellers, our new sale date on Thursday, June 8 will allow purchasers the opportunity to take the utmost advantage of owning a New York-bred with our racing program and awards with the opportunity to compete during the remainder of the Spring/Summer meet at Belmont Park and the entire Saratoga Race Course season.”

Prospective buyers may browse the website to view pedigrees, pictures, and videos of each hip offered. In-person inspections
may be scheduled by contacting sellers with the information provided in the catalogue. The entry fee for the auction will be $300 and commissions will be 5% on sales and zero on RNAs. To enter a horse, go to the Wanamaker's website.
