Stronach 5: Three Different Tracks Highlighted In Friday Wager

Five competitive races from Laurel Park, Gulfstream Park West and Golden Gate Fields, including two maiden events, highlight Friday's Stronach 5.

The popular Stronach 5, with an industry-low 12-percent takeout, begins with a scheduled turf event at Laurel Park at 3:28 p.m. Three-year-old maidens take to the turf in Gulfstream West's eighth race, the second leg of the sequence. The third leg, Laurel's eighth race, is an allowance event at seven furlongs for 3-year-olds and up. The field of 11 is wide-open with the 7-2 morning-line favorite Moose Lodge, a son of Munnings making his third start. The Ben Perkins-trained colt broke his maiden at first asking at Monmouth Park Aug. 2 before finishing third in an allowance optional claimer Sept. 26 at Monmouth.

Laurel's ninth race, the fourth leg in the sequence, features 2-year-old maidens for a $40,000 tag. The field includes Big Cypress, making his debut for St. Elias Stable and ARM Racing LLC, Colts Neck Stables LLC's Stimulus Maker, McCarthy Racing's Doubleoseven, and BTR Racing, Inc. and Dark Horse Racing LLC's Hello Hot Rod.

The Stronach 5 concludes with nine filly and mare claimers going six furlongs at Golden Gate. Tippy Top is the 5-2 favorite dropping in from allowance company.

The minimum wager on the multi-race, multi-track Stronach 5 is $1. If there are no tickets with five winners, the entire pool will be carried over to the next Friday.

If a change in racing surface is made after the wagering closes, each selection on any ticket will be considered a winning selection. If a betting interest is scratched, that selection will be substituted with the favorite in the win pool when wagering closes.

The Maryland Jockey Club serves as host of the Stronach 5.

Empire 6: Mandatory Payout Scheduled For Nov. 1 Closing Day At Belmont Park

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) announces that the Sunday, Nov. 1 card at Belmont Park will feature a mandatory payout of the Empire 6, which boasts a jackpot of $299,827.81 heading into the start of the racing week on Thursday at Belmont.

Live coverage of all the races in the sequence will be available with America's Day at the Races on FOX Sports and MSG+. Free Equibase-provided past performances will be available for races that are part of the America's Day at the Races broadcast and can be accessed at https://www.nyra.com/belmont/racing/tv-schedule.

Sunday's live racing program at Belmont, which closes out the 27-day Belmont fall meet, will be highlighted by two stakes races, each with an $80,000 purse: the Chelsey Flower at 1 1/16 miles for 2-year-old fillies on the turf; and the $80,000 Pumpkin Pie, a 7-furlong test on the dirt for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up.

Closing Day of the Belmont fall meet will also feature mandatory payouts for both the Early Pick 5 and Late Pick 5 wagers.

Live racing will then move to Aqueduct Racetrack for the 18-day fall meet, featuring 29 stakes, including 11 graded events, worth $3.41 million in purse money, which will kick off on Friday, November 6 and run through Sunday, December 6.

The Empire 6 requires the bettor to select the first-place finisher of the final six races of the day's card. On non-mandatory payout days, if one unique ticket exists, then 100 percent of the net pool, plus the jackpot carryover if applicable, will be paid to the winner. If there is no unique wager selecting the first-place finisher in all six races, then 75 percent of the day's net pool will be distributed to those who selected the first-place finisher in the greatest number of races. The remainder will be added into the jackpot and carried to the next day's Empire 6.

Friday’s Stronach 5: 12 Percent Takeout, Pool Guaranteed At $100,000

Friday's Stronach 5 will feature races on turf and dirt from Laurel Park, Gulfstream Park West, Santa Anita Park and Golden Gate Fields as well as an industry-low 12-percent takeout and $100,000 guaranteed pool.

The Stronach 5, which continues to have a strong return on investment, will kick off at 4:18 ET with Laurel's eighth race featuring a field of eight older horses going six furlongs on the main track. The field includes 2018 Maryland Million Classic winner Saratoga Bob along with stakes-placed Stroll Smokin and Awesome D J.

After a stop at Gulfstream West for a field of 10 claimers going five furlongs on the turf in the ninth race, the Stronach 5 returns to Laurel for its ninth race, a 5 ½ furlong event on the turf for optional claimers.

The Stronach 5 heads west for legs four and five. Santa Anita's third race features six older horses going a mile on the turf. The sequence ends with Golden Gate's third race and eight fillies and mares going five furlongs on the all-weather surface.
