‘Unique And Exciting Entertainment Experience’: Parx Joins Forces With Virtual Live Racing

Parx has become the biggest US casino and racetrack operator so far to partner with tote-enabled virtual racing pioneers Virtual Live Racing.

Parx Casino – Pennsylvania's number 1 casino and racetrack – offers state of the art gaming, thoroughbred racing, and exciting entertainment events. The 260,000 square foot Parx Casino and the 280,000 square foot Parx East (home to Parx Racing) are both located 20 minutes north of Philadelphia. Since Pennsylvania launched sports betting in November 2018, Parx has grown rapidly and now handles around $30 million per month with around 67 percent of that total being online (for example, the November 2020 total handle was $28.59 million, with $19.3 million online). Parx is the fifth US track to go live with products from Virtual Live Racing which is the brand created by developers Virtual Software Limited (VSL).

Joe Wilson, COO, Parx Racing, commented: “Parx Racing is happy to be participating with Virtual Software Limited in this new and groundbreaking wagering product. VSL's impeccable attention to detail in creating Parx Virtual, coupled with our race data, guarantee the customer a truly unique and exciting entertainment experience.”

Joey D Michaels, VLR's Business Development Consultant for the US, commented: “It's fantastic to see Parx live. We're continuing to expand our jurisdictional footprint and our unique product suite. The deal with Parx is the latest evidence of the huge interest we're seeing in the US and internationally. Our next goal is to put 12 products up which would enable us to run 87,600 races a year. The goal after that is to get the wagering on each race to $3,500 per race, which would generate over $306million in wagers on our products in a full year.”

In addition to Parx, VLR's suite of games are also live at Hawthorne in Chicago, plus Florida tracks Derby Lane, Tampa Bay Downs and Palm Beach Kennel Club. VLR have also partnered with the world famous Ascot Racecourse in England – when that product is launched it will signal the company's entry into the UK market.

Virtual Live Racing to Launch at Ascot

Virtual Live Racing, which is a type of virtual racing product that is based on past performance data from previously run real races utilising a racecourse’s rich archive and intellectual property database, will launch at Ascot Racecourse, a UK first. The latest CGI technology will be used to create a fully immersive digital racing and betting experience of Ascot. The idea is that VLR’s product will offer a no cost, risk free, revenue stream opportunity to racetracks to extend their digital brand distribution to access a lucrative tote betting market.

“We embrace new technology, and the exciting opportunities that it is creating, especially in the increasingly popular virtual racing space,” said Ascot Racecourse Chief Operating Officer Alastair Warwick. “VLR offer a unique, innovative, market leading product which brings a new dimension to virtual racing that allows the Ascot brand to offer several thousand virtual races 24/7/365 to new and existing digital betting entertainment audiences globally.”

“It’s a great honour for VirtualLiveRacing.com to partner with Ascot Racecourse and introduce our new concept in Virtual Live Racing to the UK,” said VLR Chairman Vincent Caldwell.

Hawthorne Releases New Concept In Pari-Mutuel Virtual Racing

Hawthorne Race Course in Chicago has created a brand new revenue stream using a world first in regulated virtual racing wagering enabled technology solutions.

The track has partnered with pioneering software developers Virtual Software who used state of the art technology to create the first virtual version of the track ever produced. Marketed as Virtual Live Racing products, the software firm's CGI experts have won BAFTA and Royal Television Society awards, and received Emmy nominations, for their work in the movie and TV industries before working with VLR. Using their world class special effects skills, and the latest CGI technology, they now create fully rendered replicas of leading US race tracks with stunning graphics, realistic race commentary, and virtual races based on results from race data at each track. While legacy virtual racing products are based on RNG (Random Number Generator), Virtual Live Racing's products are a huge leap forward and a first in the USA and internationally because races are based on anonymised and encrypted data from real-life thoroughbred, harness and greyhound races.

John Walsh, Assistant General Manager at Hawthorne, said: “We are excited to offer our Hawthorne data and brand to be included with this innovative new pari-mutuel wagering product line. Racing fans across North America will be able to wager Hawthorne Virtual as it is available to all tote systems in the US via distribution through AmTote International's Spectrum wagering system which enables us to create a brand new risk-free revenue stream.”

VLR's Chairman is Vincent Caldwell, an online betting pioneer and former licensed ADW operator. He said: “Hawthorne is our fourth product to go live in the US. It follows Derby Lane, Tampa Bay Downs and Palm Beach Kennel Club in Florida, and we have two more tracks that are currently undergoing testing before being launched later this month. Our Virtual Live Racing product offers a no cost, risk free, revenue stream opportunity to racetracks all over the world. Racing is going through a tough time and tracks should embrace new products which can offer them income, and promote their tracks to a global audience.”

Joey D Michaels is VLR's Business Development Consultant for the US and is responsible for building relationships with track owners and online Account Deposit Wagering (ADW) betting operators to drive expansion into tracks, casinos, and off-track betting outlet.
