Breeders’ Cup Presents The News Minute: Sittin On An Upset In The Juvenile

Jackie's Warrior, at 7-5, is the shortest-priced horse on the morning line of the five Future Stars Friday races that kick off the Nov. 6-7 Breeders' Cup world championship races from Keeneland in Lexington, Ky.

But is this unbeaten, Grade 1-winning son of Maclean's Music worth a play in the $2-million Breeders' Cup Juvenile? Paulick Report publisher Ray Paulick offers an alternative selection, the Dale Romans-trained Brody's Cause colt Sittin On Go, coming off a late-running victory in the G3 Iroquois Stakes at Churchill Downs and listed at 12-1 on the morning line.

Breeders’ Cup Presents The News Minute: Let The Handicapping Begin

With 184 entries, including 48 Breeders' Cup Challenge Series Win and You're In victors, 37 international competitors and four returning champions, officials drew post positions for the Nov. 6-7 Breeders' Cup world championship races today at Keeneland in Lexington, Ky.

There are nine full fields in the 14 races, including four of the five Future Stars Friday Breeders' Cup races on Nov. 6, giving horseplayers a virtual feast of handicapping opportunities.

The three Bob Baffert horses in the $6-million Breeders' Cup Classic drew the three outside post positions in the field of 10, headed by 5-2 morning line favorite Improbable in post eight. Trainer Barclay Tagg had hoped his Tiz the Law would draw outside, but he was not so lucky, drawing the No. 2 post position.

In The Stud Presented By Kentucky Equine Research: Oscar Performance, First Weanlings Of 2020

A sustained run at the top of a division is one of the hardest things to pull off in horse racing. After accomplishing just that on the racetrack within North America's turf ranks, Oscar Performance will attempt to do the same as a sire.

On this week's edition of In The Stud, we speak with Headley Bell of Mill Ridge Farm about the multiple Grade 1-winning son of Kitten's Joy, whose first foals are weanlings of 2020.

Oscar Performance won Grade 1 races at two, three, and four, starting off with the 2016 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf. At three, he added Grade 1 scores in the Belmont Derby Invitational Stakes and Secretariat Stakes. Then, at four, he won the G1 Woodbine Mile Stakes and equaled the world record time for a mile in the G3 Poker Stakes, stopping the clock in 1:31.23.

A homebred for Amerman Racing, Oscar Performance is out of the stakes-winning Theatrical mare Devine Actress, making him a full-brother to multiple Grade 3 winner Oscar Nominated.

The In The Stud video series, put together by our friends at EquiSport Photos, features up-and-coming names in the stallion ranks, with a focus on those whose first foals are weanlings of 2020. Paulick Report bloodstock editor Joe Nevills interviews farm staff about the stallion's appealing qualities and what mares might work best with them, while giving viewers and potential breeders a chance to see the stallion on the walk and on the racetrack.

Breeders’ Cup Presents The News Minute: For Classic, The Works Are Complete

Improbable, the likely favorite in the $6-million, Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Classic, breezed a quick six furlongs at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif., on Sunday morning. At Keeneland in Lexington, Ky., where the world championships will be contested Nov. 6-7, Tacitus worked out alongside Bill Mott stablemate Channel Maker for his engagement in the Classic.

Those two workouts complete the final preparations for the horses pre-entered in the Classic.

There was plenty of action in New York on Sunday, where trainer Chad Brown put many of his 13-strong Breeders' Cup team through their paces at Belmont Park, one day before entries are taken and post positions are drawn.

A reminder that you can watch the post-position draw live from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Eastern on TVG, breederscup.com or the Breeders' Cup mobile app. And don't forget to tune in each morning for “Breakfast at the Breeders' Cup” from 7-10 a.m. Eastern on TVG.
