Trio Of Stakes Winners Added To Arqana’s Vente D’Elevage

Dual listed winner Burgarita (GB) (Sea The Stars {Ire}), and group winners Oscula (Ire) (Galileo Gold {GB}) and Waldbiene (Fr) (Intello {Ger}) have been added to Arqana's Vente d'Elevage from Dec. 3-6. The trio will sell during Part I of the catalogue, which is available in its entirety on Monday, Oct. 31.

Besides taking the Listed Prix de la Seine and Listed Prix Casimir Delamarre, the Andre Fabre-trained Burgarita also placed in the G1 Prix de Diane, as well as three more group races from just 12 starts. She is a half-sister to G3 Prix Allez France heroin Aquamarine (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}), already the dam of stakes winner and multiple group placed Ultramarine (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}). Her dam, the Alzao mare Angelita (Ire), is a sister to two-time Grade I winner Angara (GB) (Alzao). In the extended family are Group 1 winners Arcangues (Sagace {Fr}), Agathe (Manila), Aquarelliste (Fr) (Danehill), and Artiste Royal (Ire) (Danehill).

A winner of the G3 Prix Six Perfections and third in the G1 Prix Marcel Boussac as a juvenile, Oscula added to her black-type laurels this term with victories in the G3 Oak Tree S. and G3 Prix de Lieurey for trainer George Boughey and Nick Bradley Racing. She is rated 107, and hails from the family of G2 Mill Reef S. winner Galeota (Ire) (Mujadil), and fellow group winners Brown Sugar (Ire) (Tamayuz {GB}), Burnt Sugar (Ire) (Lope De Vega {Ire}), Wings Of War (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}), and Charyn (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}).

Rounding out the trio is the Intello 4-year-old Waldbiene, who took the G2 T von Zastrow Stutenpreis and was also runner-up in the G3 Grosser Preis des Gestuts Auenquelle und Torquator Tasso. Rated 100, she will be offered by Ronald Rauscher and is out of the group-placed Waldjagd (GB) (Observatory). Her second dam is group winner Wurftaube (Ger) (Acatenango {Ger), and she is kin to top-level winners Masked Marvel (GB) (Montjeu {Ire}), Walgeist (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) and Wake Forest (Ger) (Sir Percy {GB}).

Grand Glory Returning to Arqana’s Vente d’Elevage

Grand Glory (GB) (Olympic Glory {Ire}), who sold for €2.5 million to rank as the second-dearest offering at last year's Arqana Vente d'Elevage, is headed back through the Deauville sales pavilion in early December.

The daughter of Madonna Lily (Ire) (Daylami {Ire}) belied odds of 23-1 to post a maiden Group 1 victory in last year's Darley Prix Jean Romanet and proved that effort was no fluke when just pipped by eventual €3-million December sales-topper Rougir (Fr) (Territories {Ire}) in the G1 Prix de l'Opera ahead of a bold fifth-place effort behind Contrail (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) in the G1 Japan Cup.

Purchased at last year's December sale by agent Anne-Sophie Yoh on behalf of owner Xavier Marie's Haras de Hus, Grand Glory has trained on nicely this season at six, topped by a popular success in the G3 Prix Allez France at ParisLongchamp in May. A sound third to State of Rest (Ire) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}) in the G1 Prince of Wales's S. at Royal Ascot in June, Grand Glory was fourth in the G1 Prix Vermeille Sept. 11 and a latest fifth to Alpinista (GB) (Frankel {GB}) in the Oct. 2 G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. She is currently being prepared for a return engagement in the Japan Cup at the end of November.

“In the beginning, Mr. Marie wished to start breeding, so we bought mares with exceptional pedigrees, including Grand Glory,” explained Yoh. “However, this purchase also enabled him to discover more about life as an owner, and he has enjoyed it so much that he has decided to concentrate on this. For this reason, Grand Glory will go under the hammer as a broodmare prospect. She will be offered by [her trainer] Gianluca Bietolini and his team, which seems a fitting next step for this incredible mare.”

Caravaggio Colt Added to Vente d’Elevage

The Christophe Ferland-trained Inuit (Fr) (Caravaggio), a two-time winner from three trips to the races, has been added as lot 240bis to the upcoming Arqana Vente d'Elevage Sale Dec. 4.

A debut second on turf at Bourdeaux Le Bouscat Sept. 19, the gray colt has since put them back-to-back, winning his maiden by three lengths over the all-weather track at Lyon La Soie Oct. 22 ahead of a 1 1/2-length victory in a conditions event over the synthetic track at Chantilly Nov. 19.

Rated 95 at present, Inuit is the first foal out of Prairie Blossom (Fr) (Dalakhani {Ire}), a half-sister to MGSW & G1SP Prairie Star (Fr) (Peintre Celebre) and GSW Pacific Rim (Ire) (Singspiel {Ire}), and is also set to sell at the Vente d'Elevage as lot 62 from Coulonces.
