Additional Wildcard Entries for Arqana Vente d’Elevage

Officials at Arqana have announced the addition of two wild-card entries to the first part of the auction house's Vente d'Elevage Saturday, Dec. 3.

The two-year-old filly Next Episode (GB) (Kingman {GB}) will be offered by Ecurie des Monceaux as lot 200. Trained by Christophe Ferland, the bay filly was a debut winner in a six-furlong test on turf at Marseille-Borely Oct. 9 and followed up with a conditions score over the Deauville all-weather track Nov. 6. A daughter of the stakes-placed Nyarhini (GB) (Fantastic Light), Next Episode is a half-sister to listed winner Token of Love (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}), herself the dam of Listed Sir Henry Cecil S. winner Mighty Ulysses (GB) (Ulysses {Ire}). Nyarhini is a half-sister to G1 Coronation S. heroine Rebecca Sharp (GB) (Machiavellian), while the deeper female family includes Golden Horn (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}).

The listed-winning and Group 3-placed Mighty Blue (Fr) (Authorized {Ire}) will go through the ring as lot 150 from La Motteraye Consignment. The six-year-old, a half-sister to the stakes-winning Modern Eagle (Ger) (Montjeu {Ire}), is currently rated on 98. She counts G1 Prix Saint-Alary heroine and Group 1 producer Moonlight Dance (Alydar) as her second dam.

Group 1-Placed Times Square Heads Latest Arqana December Wildcards

Listed winner and dual Group 1-placed Times Square (Fr) (Fr) (lot 180) has been added to Arqana's Vente d'Elevage from Dec. 3-6. Consigned by Christophe Ferland, the bay was second in the G1 Prix Marcel Boussac at two and third in the G1 French 1000 Guineas this year.

She is joined by three additional wildcards: lot 160, Deccan Queen (GB) (Rail Link {GB}) from the Coulonces consignment, who is a half-sister to Group 2 winner Bellamy Cay (GB) (Kris {GB}) and listed winner Cinnamon Bay (GB) (Zamindar), herself the dam of Group 1 sire New Bay (GB); Alessandro Botti offers G3 Prix Miesque runner-up  Lady Mia (Fr) (GB) (lot 170); and The Castlebridge Consignment consigns Romagna Mia (GB) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}) (lot 190),winner of the G2 Premio Lydia Tesio. Vente d’Elevage Catalogue Online

The catalogue for Arqana's Vente d'Elevage, to be held Dec. 3-6 in Deauville, is now online. This year's sale features a total of 1,024 mares, fillies and foals and will also include dispersals from the legendary Haras du Quesnay and the Saudi entity Marbat LLC.

The opening session of the auction will see the first 248 lots go under the hammer, including 40 stakes winners in and out of training. Sweet Lady (Fr) (Lope de Vega {Ire}), winner of this year's G1 Qatar Prix Vermeille, will be offered by trainer Francis-Henri Graffard. A graduate of the 2019 Arqana August Yearling Sale, Sweet Lady–owned by Gemini Stud–is out of the stakes-winning High Heel Sneakers (GB) (Dansili {GB}).

Grand Glory (GB) (Olympic Glory {Ire}) is set to make a second trip through the December sale, having fetched €2.5 million from Yohea on behalf of Haras de Hus last year. Winner of the 2021 G1 Darley Prix Jean Romanet, the 6-year-old added the G3 Prix Allez France Longines this past May and was a latest admirable fifth in the G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Prior to her date in the sales ring, she will take part in the G1 Longines Japan Cup, in which she was fifth last term.

Haras du Quesnay Dispersal Slated for Vente d’Elevage

Historic breeding establishment Haras du Quesnay announced it will offer 40 broodmares, fillies and foals during Arqana's Vente d'Elevage Dec. 3-6.

Among those on offer:

  • Perle d'Auge (Le Havre), a half-sister to Eternal Pearl, a winner of the G3 Prix Minerve and G3 Dubai S., from the close family of G1 Matron S. winner Pearls Galore. This is the maternal line of Pearly Shells.
  • The last foal out of the dam of Treve, a filly from Le Havre's final crop.
  • Toride, a half-sister to Treve, that has produced black-type Lady Day and Maximum, that is offered in foal to Zarak.

Renowned for having stood a bevy of top sires, including Green Dancer, Riverman, Sir Gaylord, Gay Mecene, Bellypha, Saint Cyrien, Bering, Highest Honor and Anabaa, as well as Le Fabuleux, the operation is also famed for having bred Astec, Chaparral, Riverqueen, Harbour, Ma Biche, Silvermine, Bering, Ravinella, and Matiara, Bon Mot, Détroit and most recently Trêve.

All the lots from the Haras du Quesnay dispersal will be available online Monday, Oct. 31, when the whole catalogue for the Vente d'Elevage will be unveiled at www.arqana.com.
