Eclipse Awards to Air on TVG, RTN, TDN and More

The 50th Annual Eclipse Awards, presented by Spendthrift Farm, will air live on TVG and Racetrack Television Network Thursday, Jan. 28, beginning at 8 p.m. ET., and also streamed on other outlets and platforms.

This year's ceremony will be a virtual telecast. NBC Sports' Kenny Rice will anchor the program from Lexington, and will be joined by many fellow Eclipse Awards' masters of ceremonies and presenters from the past 20 years. Britney Eurton and Jeannine Edwards will present from historic Spendthrift Farm, home to some of racing's greatest champions. Acacia Courtney and Gabby Gaudet will present from Gulfstream Park in Florida; Gary Stevens and Daily Racing Form National Correspondent Jay Privman from Santa Anita Park in California, and Kenny Mayne from EPSN Studios.

In addition to TVG and RTN, the Eclipse Awards ceremony will be shown live on the following outlets: NTRA.com; America's Best Racing Facebook page and Twitter feed; XBTV Facebook page; DRF.com; Bloodhorse.com; ThoroughbredDailyNews.com; Equibase.com; Breeders' Cup Facebook page and YouTube channel; MyRacehorse Facebook page and YouTube channel; and TOBA.org.

In keeping with the 50th anniversary theme, results from the NTRA Eclipse 50 Contest, a vote by fans of their 10 favorite Eclipse Award-champion horses and their favorite champion trainer and jockey from the past 50 years, will also be revealed throughout the show.

TVG’s Weekend Coverage Features Live Pegasus Broadcast, Opening Weekend At Oaklawn

Expanded coverage of the $3 million Pegasus World Cup (G1) will anchor TVG's weekend coverage as the award-winning network is live from Gulfstream Park with exclusive behind-the-scenes features, interviews and expert analysis. TVG's weekend broadcast will also feature opening weekend from Oaklawn Park including the $150,000 Smarty Jones Stakes on Friday which will offer points towards a berth in the Kentucky Derby (G1).

Todd Schrupp, Gabby Gaudet and Joaquin Jaime will be live from Gulfstream Park for the twelve-race Pegasus World Cup card which will feature six stakes races in addition to the Pegasus World Cup (G1) including the $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf (G1). The Pegasus World Cup (G1) has drawn a field of twelve of some of the top older horses in the country including Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) winner Knicks Go for trainer Brad Cox and trainer Shug McGaughey's multiple Grade 1 winner, Code of Honor. Mr. Freeze, the runner-up in the 2020 edition of the Pegasus World Cup (GI), has also been entered for trainer Dale Romans.

The network has several features planned throughout the day including a retrospective on the evolution of the Pegasus World Cup (G1) since the inaugural running in 2017, a feature on Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) winner and Pegasus World Cup (G1) contender Knicks Go and a profile on private investigator turned horse trainer Eric Kruljac, who will be saddling Kiss Today Goodbye in the feature race.

Oaklawn Park will begin their meet on Friday and TVG's Caton Bredar will be live from Arkansas with interviews and insights. The nine-race opening day card will feature the $150,000 Smarty Jokes Stakes which will offer 10-4-2-1 Kentucky Derby points to the top four finishers. Cowan, the 9-5 favorite on the morning line for trainer Steve Asmussen, will face six rivals for his sophomore debut. Second in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1), the chestnut son of Kantharos will have Ricardo Santana, Jr. in the irons.

TVG will be covering every race, every day of Oaklawn Park's meet. The season runs through May 1 and will feature marquee stakes races including the $1 million Arkansas Derby (G1), a major prep for the Kentucky Derby (G1) which is scheduled for April 10.

In addition to racing from Gulfstream Park and Oaklawn Park, TVG will be featuring racing from Santa Anita, Fair Grounds, Aqueduct and more. Fans can tune in on TVG, TVG2 and the Watch TVG app which is available on Amazon Fire, Roku and connected Apple TV devices.

Coast-To-Coast Stakes Action, Unveiling Of Eclipse Award Finalists On TVG Saturday

TVG, America's horse racing network, will be live trackside at Santa Anita and Gulfstream Park this weekend featuring the Sunshine Million for Florida and California-bred horses alongside six stakes races from Fair Grounds including the $200,000 Lecomte Stakes (G3), an early prep race for the Kentucky Derby (G1).

At Gulfstream Park, TVG's Gabby Gaudet will be trackside with insights and interviews as the Florida breeding industry takes center stage with Sunshine Millions Day. There are four stakes races restricted to Florida-bred horses on the 12-race card including the $75,000 Sunshine Millions Classic. The race features a field of seven contenders including veteran gelding Noble Drama, winner of the 2020 edition for trainer David Fawkes. The six-year-old gelding will have Emisael Jaramillo aboard as he squares off against Quenane, winner of the Sunshine Millions Preview Stakes.

The Sunshine Millions continues in California on Saturday and the focus will shift to highlight the California breeding program throughout the 10-race California Cup Day card. Mike Joyce, Christina Blacker and Britney Eurton will be live on site at Santa Anita with expert analysis, selections and interviews. The featured event is the $200,000 Unusual Heat Turf Classic which has drawn a contentious field of 11 state-breds including graded stakes winner Acclimate who has been freshened since a fourth-place finish in the Hollywood Turf Cup Stakes (G2) in November for trainer Philip D'Amato. Tyler Baze will be in the irons.

Fair Grounds has a loaded 13-race card scheduled for Saturday featuring six stakes races. The featured and final race on the card, the $200,000 Lecomte Stakes (G3) has drawn a field of 11 Triple Crown hopefuls including Mandaloun, a homebred son of Into Mischief for Juddmonte Farms. Trained by Brad Cox, he is undefeated from two starts and will be making his stakes debut under jockey Florent Geroux. The Lecomte Stakes offers 10-4-2-1 Kentucky Derby points to the top four finishers.

On Saturday, TVG will broadcast a live announcement of the finalists for the 2020 Eclipse Awards at 12:00 p.m. ET/9:00 a.m. PT. The 50th Eclipse Awards, presented by Spendthrift Farm, will be televised live on TVG on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT.

In addition to racing from Fair Grounds, Santa Anita and Gulfstream Park, TVG will be featuring racing from Aqueduct, Tampa Bay Downs and more. Fans can tune in on TVG, TVG2 and the Watch TVG app which is available on Amazon Fire, Roku and connected Apple TV devices.

Eclipse Finalists to be Announced Saturday

TVG will televise live the announcement of the finalists for the 2020 Eclipse Award Saturday at noon ET. TVG also will televise live the 50th Eclipse Awards ceremony, presented by Spendthrift Farm, Thursday, Jan. 28 at 8 p.m. ET. The ceremony also will be streamed on additional outlets.

The Eclipse Awards, honoring excellence in Thoroughbred racing, are voted upon by NTRA, represented by member racetrack racing officials and Equibase field personnel, NTWAB and Daily Racing Form, and are produced by the NTRA.
