INS Launches Foal Investment Opportunity

The Irish National Stud announced a new initiative that will provide shareholders an access point into the industry and to breed, own and sell a quality foal produced at a renowned nursery all at an affordable price. Kicking off the initiative is a filly by leading sire Invincible Spirit (Ire) (Green Desert), responsible for 20 individual Group 1 winners, including Kingman (GB), Magna Grecia (Ire), Nazeef (GB) and Moonlight Cloud (GB). The Feb. 16 foal is out of Irish National Stud broodmare Hanvarana (Ire) (Leroidesanimaux {Brz}). Bred by HH The Aga Khan, Hanvarana hails from the family of dual Derby winner Harzand (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) and Group 1 winner Seal Of Approval (GB) (Authorized {Ire}). Hanvarana is a sister to two black-type winners–G3 Thousand Guineas Trial winner Hamariyna (Ire) (Sea The Moon {Ire}) and Group 3-scorer Hunaina (Ire) (Tamayuz {GB}).

“After the great successes we have had with our Mare Syndicates model, we are delighted to create another unique opportunity for people to get involved in the breeding industry, for a modest fee and follow the life of a foal from birth through to selling in November,” said Cathal Beale, CEO, Irish National Stud. “The aim will be to sell for a profit on the investment, but the guarantee will be a shared ownership experience like no other.”

There are 400 shares available to purchase for a single payment of €330.95 per share (including taxes and charges). For more information, visit https://www.equideq.com/horse/7.

Patrick Diamond, Bloodstock and Nominations, Irish National Stud added, ”She is a filly of real quality, from day one she has looked very classy. She walks extremely well with a huge overstride, she really has a presence about her. In time she will have great appeal as race filly by Invincible Spirit having such a strong family behind her.”

New Records For Goffs UK Spring Store Sale

At the conclusion of the two-day Goffs UK Spring Store Sale at Doncaster, demand for quality stores produced record-breaking results across the board.

Although the top price on Tuesday of £105,000 did not match the £165,000 set on Monday, a buoyant middle market resulted in 115 sold from 133 (86.5%) offered. Over the two days of selling, 41 lots brought £50,000 or more, up from 22 lots in 2019. The gross was £7,191,500 with 224 sold from 271 through the ring. The average was £32,105 (+21%) and the median was £27,000 (29%).

One of two six-figure lots on Tuesday was the sale topper, lot 193, a gelded son of Saint des Saints (Fr) from Rathmore Stud. Aiden Murphy and Kim Bailey joined forces to secure the grey for £105,000. He is out of the French listed-placed mare Nomad Attitude (Fr) (Martaline {GB}).

Also breaking into six figures was a filly by Kayf Tara (GB) (lot 295). She was offered by Goldford Stud and drew a winning bid from Olly Murphy and Aiden Murphy. A half-sister to listed-placed chaser Angel of Harlem (GB) (Presenting {GB}), the duo are out of Listed Coolmore NH Sires Mares' Hurdle victress Whoops a Daisy (GB) (Definite Article {GB}).

Goffs UK Managing Director Tim Kent commented, “Just last month, we were saying what an incredible business this is after the success of the Breeze Up Sale and it's happened again this week. Following unprecedented vendor demand for places in this sale, which led to its expansion to two-days, we were hopeful of a successful sale and we marketed this catalogue as arguably our strongest ever. That pre-sale stance made for a nervous few weeks in the build up to this sale and it is wonderful to have delivered on that hype and produced the best set of statistics in the sale's 60-year history.

“Full credit has to go to our vendors–they have backed this sale and sent us some outstanding horses. From the moment we went out on inspections, it was clear that this sale could be something special and we are delighted to have delivered a strong buying bench who embraced the marked increase in quality and drove the market back to its rightful position as one of the Premier NH Store Sales of the year. For many years, the very best stores were sold in Doncaster and its wonderful to be back at the top table where we belong.

“We would like to wish everyone all the very best with their purchases and we now turn our attention to tomorrow's Spring HIT/P2P Sale. We have two top-class days of Horses-in-Training and Point-to-Pointers and we would like to remind everyone that, due to customer feedback, we are starting tomorrow's sale an hour later at 11 a.m.”
