Kentucky Downs: Reserved Seating Tickets, New VIP Chalet Acces Now On Sale

Kentucky Downs will be back to full capacity for live racing in September with its most upscale option yet for reserved seating and dining and the return of free general admission.

The fastest six days in horse racing will be staged Sept. 5, 6, 8, 9, 11 and 12, kicking off on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend and concluding the following Sunday. Tickets for the unique all-grass meet are available for purchase now at kentuckydowns.com/racing or kentuckydownstickets.com.

New will be the VIP Chalet, a glass-enclosed, air-conditioned facility with an outdoor terrace providing a spectacular view of the race course and located mere yards from the rail. The expansive structure will feature more amenities, high-end cuisine, open bar and betting windows.

The popular Finish Line Pavilion once again will be expanded. The venue will have enhanced food options, dedicated cash bar and betting windows.

COVID safety restrictions limited the 2020 meet to horsemen and their guests. For 2021, free general admission will be back in front of the Mint Gaming Hall and with tailgating at the top of the stretch.

Ticket pricing is tiered according to the day of the week and will be sold in tables of eight only.

Finish Line Pavilion tables are available for $495 on Sept. 5 (Sunday), Sept. 6 (Labor Day Monday) and Sept. 12 (Sunday); for $795 on Sept. 11 (the showcase Saturday card) and $369 on Wednesday Sept. 8 and Thursday Sept. 9.

Tables for eight in the VIP Chalet can be purchased for $995 on Sept. 5, 6 and 12 and for $549 on Sept. 8 and 9. No tickets are available for Sept. 11, with the venue limited to sponsors, invited guests and horsemen in the track's five graded stakes.

Ted Nicholson, Kentucky Downs Vice President for Racing, encouraged buying tickets early, saying: “History tells us they'll go quickly, especially on the weekends.”

Downs After Dark Returns To Churchill Saturday With ‘Country Saloon’ Theme

Kick up your boots, y'all, and get ready to enjoy a hot country night as the popular Downs After Dark presented by Budweiser returns in earnest to Churchill Downs on Saturday night at 6 p.m. (all times Eastern).

The theme for Saturday night's Downs After Dark is “Country Saloon” as Churchill Downs goes Southwest. Guests are encouraged to dust off the boots and cowboy hats for a western-inspired look.

The spacious 30,000-square-foot Plaza adjacent to the saddling paddock will be the heartbeat of the party. There will be live music on the Plaza Stage throughout the night, including Kyle Eldridge & The Kentucky Cowhands from 5:30-8 p.m. and a mix of new country and pop by Bourbon Straights from 8:30-11:30 p.m. Also, there will be line dancing with professional dancers from Dance Louisville to put guests in a country state of mind.

Guests also will be able to take pictures in front of murals created by local artists inspired by Austin, Texas' iconic street art, and there will be video projections of Western scenes on the facades of Churchill Downs' clubhouse once the sun sets.

BBQ is the featured culinary option, and special Margarita and Paloma cocktails will be served.

Admission gates will open Saturday at 5 p.m. and the first of 11 races will begin at 6 p.m. The final race will be 11:10 p.m. and the on-track party will continue in the Plaza area until 11:30 p.m. The last call for alcohol will be post time for the final race of night.

Saturday's marquee entertainment event is paired with stellar stakes racing action: the $150,000 Winning Colors (Grade 3), a six-furlong sprint for fillies and mares, and the $110,000 Keertana Overnight Stakes for fillies and mares at 1 ½ miles on turf.

According to the National Weather Service, Saturday's forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 88. The low will be around 64.

General admission to Downs After Dark is $12 and it includes a reserved seat on the first floor and official program. No one under the age of 18 will be admitted to the track unless they are accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. Limited premium dining packages are available starting at $69 per person. Outdoor-third floor box seats are on sale for $27 per person. Reserved seating can be purchased online at www.ChurchillDowns.com/Tickets.

Additional Belmont Stakes Tickets, Hospitality Options Now Available

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has released updated ticket and hospitality options for the 2021 Belmont Stakes Racing Festival. The newly available ticket inventory reflects updated New York State guidance for large outdoor events that allows for fully vaccinated stadium sections to operate at full capacity.

In accordance with those guidelines, which take effect on May 19, NYRA has updated its inventory to include availability within hospitality areas such as the Marquee Tent and individual reserved seat sections in the clubhouse that will be designated as fully vaccinated. To purchase tickets in these sections, fans can visit Ticketmaster.com and select from sections designated for fully vaccinated guests.

Headlined by the 153rd running of the Grade 1, $1.5 million Belmont Stakes presented by NYRA Bets on Saturday, June 5, the three-day Belmont Stakes Racing Festival kicks off on Thursday, June 3 and will include 17 stakes races in total with eight Grade 1 races to be contested on Belmont Stakes Day.

The 2021 Belmont Stakes Racing Festival will mark the return of the Belmont Stakes to its customary spot on the racing calendar and its famed distance of 1 1/2 miles. In 2020, a readjustment to the stakes schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic saw the “Test of the Champion” contested at a one-turn 1 1/8 miles while serving as the initial leg of the Triple Crown series for the first time in history.

Ticketholders in vaccinated sections must present proof of a completed vaccination series prior to entry into the section. All guests who have been vaccinated in New York State are encouraged to provide secure proof using the New York State Excelsior Pass.

Young adults and children under the age of 16 who are not yet eligible for the vaccine may accompany and be seated with a vaccinated adult in a fully vaccinated section.
