Butler Pledges One-Day TAA Match Dec. 24

As part of the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA)'s month-long Holiday Giving Campaign, Aidan Butler and his beloved off-track Thoroughbred Cannonstone have pledged to match all donations up to $2,500 made to the TAA Dec. 24. A member of TAA's Board of Directors and CEO of 1/ST RACING AND GAMING, Butler continues to be an advocate for the sport through safety, innovation, and aftercare initiatives.

“The TAA is vital to the success and longevity of our racing industry,” said Butler. “On a personal level, I wouldn't have my beloved horse Cannonstone without the TAA and their network of accredited groups (or the vet bills, but he's worth it). We are all in this together and if we continue to put the horse first, success will follow. Please join Stone and I to give back to the horses that truly give us everything.”

Butler adopted “Stone” from Secretariat Center in 2019, which is one of 81 accredited sites that is directly funded by TAA. He represents one out of approximately 15,000 retired racehorses that has successfully made the transition from the racetrack to a second career.

“We appreciate Aidan's commitment to the TAA and to the Thoroughbreds,” said TAA Operations Consultant, Stacie Clark. “Aidan's horse Cannonstone has been a wonderful mascot not only for aftercare but for all fans of Thoroughbreds and racing.”

TAA's Holiday Giving Campaign commenced Nov. 29 with one-day matches with the sport's biggest names and concludes New Year's Eve. Those wishing to support the TAA, its accredited organizations and thousands of retired Thoroughbreds can donate through the TAA's website or text DONATE to 56651.

Join Announcer Pete in the Booth to Help TAA

Beginning Dec. 26–Opening Day of Gulfstream Park's Championship Meet–fans will be able to meet and watch track announcer Pete Aiello call a race while helping to retrain, rehome and retire Thoroughbreds. For a $50 donation per person, up to six fans can watch Aiello call a race from the announcer's booth with the proceeds going to the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA).

“The TAA is very grateful to the team at Gulfstream Park and Peter Aiello for this unique and fun way to raise funds and awareness for aftercare. We hope fans of racing will embrace this experience to have an exciting birds-eye view of Thoroughbred racing while joining Pete and supporting a great cause,” said Stacie Clark-Rogers, TAA's Operation Consultant.

Aiello, a native of West Palm Beach, grew up attending the races at Gulfstream, Hialeah Park and Calder Race Course. A graduate of the University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program, he called races at River Downs, California fairs and Oaklawn Park before arriving at Gulfstream in 2016.

“I love meeting racing fans and I applaud the efforts of the TAA so it is a perfect marriage. I look forward to showing everyone a great time raising money for a great cause,” Aiello said.

Coady and Devine Pledge Matching TAA Giving Campaign Donation

Kurtis Coady and Megan Devine have pledged to match all donations up to $500 made to the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance as part of the TAA's month-long Holiday Giving Campaign. The track photographer and on-air analyst own retired racehorses at their Cardinal Creek Farm.

“The Thoroughbred has given us everything, both personally and professionally,” said Devine and Coady. “We met at a racetrack and consider ourselves so lucky to have enjoyed careers in the racing industry. We believe it's incredibly important to give back to the horses, and the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance provides an excellent avenue to do so. On our own, we have rescued a few Thoroughbreds and provided both a forever home and a second career. But with your support, the TAA can help so many more horses find a soft landing after their time on the racetrack.”

TAA's Holiday Giving Campaign commenced Nov. 29 and is scheduled to conclude New Year's Eve. Those wishing to support the TAA, its 81 accredited organizations, and thousands of retired Thoroughbreds can donate through the TAA's website or text DONATE to 56651. During the Holiday Giving Campaign, TAA is also offering donors the benefit of sending digital holiday cards to colleagues, friends, and loved ones.
