TERF Grant Applications Open, Due Apr. 1

The Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation announced the opening of their 2021 grant awards cycle. This year's grant awards will reflect TERF's strategic focus and vision to support and promote equine education and research. Awards will be considered for qualified federally tax exempt 501-c-3 organizations. Information regarding the grant award program can be found at www.terfusa.org. Grant applications will be accepted through Apr. 1.

Grant recipients will receive written notice of TERF's acceptance of their funding request and/or notice via phone or e-mail by no later than July 15 of the application year. In 2020, TERF awarded $108,000 in grants to nine organizations.

Headed by founders Herb and Ellen Moelis, TERF's current Board, includes co-Chairs Kathleen Anderson, DVM, and James Orsini, DVM, Margaret H. Duprey, Gretchen and Roy Jackson, Ellen and Herb Moelis, Wendy Moon, Anita Motion, Scott Palmer VMD, Josh Pons and Lucy Zungailia.

TERF Opens Grant Awards Cycle

The Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation (TERF) has announced the opening of their 2021 grant awards cycle. TERF aims to support students in pursuit of education in Equine Medicine and to fund research efforts which improve the lives of Thoroughbred horses. Those selected to receive this year's grants will reflect TERF's strategic focus and vision to support and promote equine education and research. In 2020, TERF awarded $108,000 in grants to nine different organizations. TERF's grants reflect the values set forth by its founders Herb and Ellen Moelis. TERF's current board includes Gretchen and Roy Jackson, the Moelises, Anita Motion, Scott Palmer VMD and Josh Pons, among others.

TERF Awards $16K to Wilson College

The Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation (TERF), founded by Herb and Ellen Moelis, has awarded $16,000 to Wilson College, whose mission is to empower students through an engaged, collaborative, liberal arts education, and help them combine the skills and focused study needed for success in work and life. Since 2015, 18 students have been awarded TERF scholarships to continue their education. In alignment with their mission to support and promote equine education by supporting organizations that are educating the public on the proper care of horses, TERF continues to offer their financial assistance in 2020.

The scholarship will benefit four students in the 2020-21 academic year with the overall goal to help provide equine-related and Veterinary Medical Technology (VMT) majors with the financial resources to complete their education.

TERF’s current Board, includes co-Chairs Kathleen Anderson DVM, and James Orsini DVM, Margaret H. Duprey, Gretchen and Roy Jackson, Ellen and Herb Moelis, Wendy Moon, Anita Motion, Toni Orsini, Scott Palmer VMD, Josh Pons and Lucy Zungailia.

TERF Awards $10,000 to Belmont Childcare Association

Officials at the Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation (TERF) announced Friday an award of $10,000 to be given to the Belmont Childcare Association, Inc. (BCCA). A fund of the Chester County Community Foundation, TERF has earmarked the BCCA award to be used for educational purposes. BCCA provides a safe and supportive academic environment for the children of backside workers at New York Racing Association (NYRA) tracks. In 2019, BCCA also received funds from TERF, which were used for their early childhood education program.

TERF aims to support and promote equine education by supporting organizations that educate the public on the proper care of horses. BCCA will use the funding for their early childhood education program which incorporates a STEAM-based (science, technology, engineering, art, math) curriculum to prepare students for elementary school.
