TVG Plans Expanded Coverage Of Coast-To-Coast Sophomore Prep Races

TVG's Road to the Triple Crown and Kentucky Oaks presented by Spendthrift Farm will feature prep races from across the country this weekend with full coverage from Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita highlighted by the $250,000 Holy Bull Stakes (G3) and the $200,000 Robert B. Lewis (G3) along with the $250,000 Withers Stakes (G3) from Aqueduct.

There will be expanded coverage at Gulfstream Park presented by Runhappy with expert analysis and interviews from Todd Schrupp, Larry Collmus, Britney Eurton, Joaquin Jaime and Andi Biancone. The twelve-race card includes five stakes races with the $250,000 Holy Bull Stakes (G3) the main event with 10-4-3-1 Kentucky Derby points on the line. The race has drawn a field of nine with Mo Donegal tabbed as the morning line favorite at odds of 3-1 for trainer Todd Pletcher. Purchased for $250,000 by Donegal Racing, the bay son of Uncle Mo ended his juvenile campaign with a win in the Remsen Stakes (G2) and will have Irad Ortiz, Jr. in the irons.

Santa Anita has a stakes-laden weekend of action on tap and Christina Blacker, Mike Joyce, Simon Bray, Scott Hazelton and Kurt Hoover will be trackside with exclusive interviews and insights. On Saturday, the $200,000 San Pasqual Stakes (G2) highlights a nine-race card that includes two additional graded stakes – the $100,000 Thunder Road Stakes (G3) and the $200,000 Santa Monica Stakes (G3). In the San Pasqual Stakes (G2), the 2021 winner Express Train will take on five rivals as he tries for a repeat for trainer John Shirreffs.

On Sunday, the road to the Kentucky Derby runs through California with the $200,000 Robert B. Lewis (G3) featuring a field of five contenders. Happy Jack will step up to stakes company for trainer Doug O'Neill after breaking his maiden in January at Santa Anita. The Calumet Farm homebred will have Abel Cedillo aboard.

TVG will also be broadcasting the $250,000 Withers Stakes (G3) from Aqueduct which offers up 10-4-3-1 Kentucky Derby qualifying points to the top four finishers.

TVG To Present Enhanced Coverage Of Saturday’s Pegasus World Cup

The anticipated showdown between Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) champion Knicks Go and Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) winner Life is Good is set for the $3 million Pegasus World Cup (G1) on Saturday at Gulfstream Park and TVG will be live on site with enhanced coverage of the marquee day of racing, presented by Coolmore America.

TVG's Todd Schrupp, Simon Bray, Christina Blacker, Scott Hazelton, Larry Collmus and Andie Biancone will be reporting live from Gulfstream Park with exclusive interviews, behind-the-scenes coverage and expert analysis throughout the twelve-race card.

Additionally, there will be features airing throughout the day on Knicks Go, trainer Jack Sisterson, and jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr.

A $125,000 purchase as a yearling, the son of Violence is undefeated from two starts and was last seen winning the Sham Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita. John Velazquez will be aboard.

Also this weekend, Dave Weaver will be live at the National Horseplayers Championship (NHC) sponsored by NTRA from Las Vegas featuring some of the top horseplayers in the country.

TVG Plans Live Coverage Of Derby Points Race, Mandaloun’s Seasonal Debut At Fair Grounds

The road to the Kentucky Derby will run through Louisiana on Saturday and TVG will be live on site at Fair Grounds with full coverage of the stakes-packed card featuring the $200,000 Lecomte Stakes (G3) as well as the seasonal debut of Grade 1 winning sophomore Mandaloun in the $150,000 Louisiana Stakes (G3).

TVG's Joaquin Jaime and Scott Hazelton will be reporting live from Fair Grounds with exclusive interviews and expert analysis throughout the fourteen-race card. Mandaloun, trained by Brad Cox, will face six rivals in the $150,000 Louisiana Stakes (G3) including the 2021 Lecomte winner, Midnight Bourbon for trainer Steve Asmussen. Mandaloun, the runner-up finisher in the 2021 Kentucky Derby (G1) also won the Haskell Invitational (G1) during his 3-year-old campaign and will have Florent Geroux aboard.

The $200,000 Lecomte Stakes (G3) offers 10-4-2-1 Kentucky Derby qualifying points to the top four finishers and has drawn a field of nine Triple Crown hopefuls. Pappacap, a homebred son of Gun Runner for Rustlewood Farm, will be making his 3-year-old debut for Mark Casse and was last seen finishing second in the TVG Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1). Joe Bravo will be in the irons. His rivals include Epicenter, one of two contenders for trainer Steve Asmussen. The son of Not This Time earned his first black type victory last time out in the Gun Runner Stakes in December and will have Joel Rosario aboard.

California Cup Day Highlights TVG’s Weekend Coverage

The California breeding programs will take center stage this weekend on TVG with live coverage of California Cup Day from Santa Anita featuring five stakes races on the ten-race card including the $200,000 California Cup Derby. A homebred for Jim Rome's Jungle Racing, Straight Up G will take on five rivals as he tries to earn his second consecutive stakes race.

TVG's Todd Schrupp, Simon Bray, Christina Blacker, Joaquin Jaime, Britney Eurton and Kurt Hoover will be reporting live from Santa Anita throughout the day with exclusive interviews, analysis and features. In the California Cup Derby, Straight Up G will be ridden by Ricardo Gonzalez for trainer Richard Baltas. A son of Straight Fire, he will be making his three-year-old debut and closed out his juvenile campaign with a win in the King Glorious Stakes at Los Alamitos.

Also on the card is the $150,000 Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf Sprint which has drawn an overflow field of thirteen contenders. The field includes California Kook, a four-time winner and Grade 1-placed daughter of Boisterous, bred and owned in California by Wachtel Stable and Gary Barber. Trained by Rueben Alvarado, she was last seen winning an allowance race at Santa Anita and will have John Velazquez in the irons.

The coverage will continue with a special holiday card on Monday at Santa Anita featuring the $125,000 Astra Stakes (G3) going 1 ½ miles on the turf.

Gulfstream Park has a loaded eleven-race card featuring a pair of stakes races for Florida-bred horses – the $75,000 Sunshine Classic and $75,000 Sunshine Sprint. Larry Collmus and Andie Biancone will be reporting live from the track with interviews and expert analysis. Shamrocket headlines the Sunshine Classic as the 6-5 morning line favorite for Todd Pletcher. Owned by Donegal Racing, the five-year-old son of Tonalist will square off against six rivals under jockey Javier Castellano.
