Into Mischief Filly Bounds Home at Ellis Park

6th-Ellis, $120,000, Msw, 6-16, 2yo, f, 5 1/2f, 1:04.69, ft, 3 3/4 lengths.
STREAMING NOW (f, 2, Into Mischief–One True Kiss {MGSP, $231,459}, by Warrior's Reward) came into this debut riding a pair of bullet works at the Thoroughbred Training Center, both four furlong moves in :48 flat, and she showed that speed here. Setting the pace right from the jump, she put up :22.92, :46.63, and :58.43 splits on an uncontested lead and was under confident handling entering the lane. Responding to further urgining, she inched away from a pursuing Lady Moscato (Quality Road) to win by 3 3/4 lengths.

Out of a graded-stakes placed half-sister to MGISP & GSW Shancelot (Shanghai Bobby) and GSP Tiz Kissable (Tiz Wonderful), Streaming Now is the first winner for her dam and the second 2 year-old filly winner on the card for her sire, who would add newly-minted 'TDN Rising Star' Into Champagne (Into Mischief) to his ever-growing tally two races later. She has a yearling half-sister by Instagrand as well as a 2023 half-brother by Rowayton. This is the female family of GISW & MGSW Silver Max (Badge of Silver) and GISW Yes It's True. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $69,600. Click for the Equibase.com chart.

Juddmonte’s Scylla Becomes Latest ‘Rising Star’ For Tapit

The latest royally-bred filly to hit the track for owner/breeder Juddmonte Farm, Scylla (Tapit) lived up to her illustrious connections with a 2 1/2-length score on debut at Keeneland Saturday.

Despite being the full-sister to current Taylor Made stallion Tacitus, MGSW & MGISP, $3,767,350, Scylla earned only 5-2 billing–going off as the second choice in the wagering behind the more experienced Zeitlos (Curlin). A step slow from the blocks, the bay found herself in eighth with only a handful of rivals beaten as Miss Arlington (Mark Valeski) paced the field through opening fractions of :22.50 and :46.31. Given her head with room to run around the far turn, Scylla began to pick up the pieces with an impressive move towards the front, challenging new leader Zeitlos with a furlong to run. With more left to give and all the momentum, she cruised by into the final sixteenth and cleared off nicely to the wire to win by open lengths going away under only a mild ride.

The third winner produced from champion older mare Close Hatches (First Defense), herself a full-sister to SW & MGISP Lockdown–the dam of SW Idiotmatic (Curlin)–Scylla traces back to European champion 2-year-old colt Xaar (GB) (Zafonic) as well as G1 Tattersalls Irish Two Thousand Guineas and GI Keeneland Phoenix S. victor Siskin (First Defence). Close Hatches has a 2-year-old full-brother to Tacitus and Scylla still to make the races along with a yearling Constitution filly and a newborn Uncle Mo filly, all of whom remain with Juddmonte. Scylla is Tapit's 52nd 'TDN Rising Star'.

6th-Keeneland, $99,588, Msw, 4-15, 3yo, f, 6f, 1:10.32, ft, 2 1/2 lengths.

Uncle Mo’s Bishops Bay Gives Trainer Brad Cox Win #2,000

5th-Fair Grounds, $70,000, Msw, 2-18, 3yo, 6f, 1:10.07, ft, 3/4 length.
BISHOPS BAY (c, 3, Uncle Mo–Catch My Drift {SW & GISP, $280,540}, by Pioneerof the Nile) was a popular wagering choice for his career bow, breaking from the gates as the 1-2 chalk under jockey Florent Geroux. With good early speed from mid pack, the $450,000 Keeneland yearling moved between rivals to just sit just off the flank of pacesetter Ocean City (American Pharoah) through a quick opening quarter in :22.14. Applying consistent pressure to that early leader into the far turn, Bishops Bay took over under his own power as the top pair swung into the turn. A game First Mission (Street Sense) made a late run down the stretch but Bishops Bay had enough of a gap built up to hold off his stablemate by three-quarters of a length for a Brad Cox exacta. Ocean City came home fourth while Unload (Gun Runner) and St. John's (Hard Spun) were the last two home. Catch My Drift, herself an accomplished race mare, is also responsible for Strava (Into Mischief), MSP, $282,340. Her 2-year-old Constitution colt brought $575,000 at last year's Keeneland September Sale and she dropped a filly by Improbable last year before visiting Not This Time for the 2023 season. Sales History: $450,000 Ylg '21 KEESEP. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $42,000. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by TVG.

Taylor Made Stallions’ Tacitus Represented by First Foals

Taylor Made Stallions' MGSW Tacitus (Tapit) out of MGISW Close Hatches, sired his first reported foals in New York on Monday, Jan. 16. The arrivals were a colt born at Waldorf Farm out of the Bustin Stones mare Super Stone who was bred by Jerry Bilinski, DVM, and a filly produced from SW Courageous Cat mare Lady Joan who was bred by Irish Hill Century Farm and foaled there.

“She is what I was expecting a Tacitus foal would look like,” said Rick Burke of Irish Hill Century Farm. “She has plenty of leg and good bone. She looks a lot like him.”

A Juddmonte Farms homebred trained by Bill Mott, Tacitus won the 2019 GII Tampa Bay Derby and the GII Wood Memorial. He was third in the Kentucky Derby that year, and finished second in both the GI Belmont S. and the GI Travers S. Tacitus, who stands the 2023 season for $10,000 S&N, bred 188 mares in his initial book.
