Crystal Ocean Colt Popular at November NH Sale

The six-figure mark was breached for the first time during the third day of the foal portion-and fourth day overall–of the Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale on Wednesday. A son of Crystal Ocean (GB), lot 861, was knocked down to Kevin Ross Bloodstock and Ben Case for €120,000. Consigned by Coolmara Stables Ltd., the bay is out of Daydream Beach (Ire) (Mahler {GB}), herself a half-sister to Grade 1 hurdle winner Airlie Beach (Ire) (Shantou).

Second on the leaderboards was Ballincurrig House Stud's lot 894, a son of Affinisea (Ire). He caught the eye of T Hillman at €62,000 and is a half-brother to G1 Unibet Tolworth Novices' Hurdle winner Fiddlerontheroof (Ire) (Stowaway {GB}).

Another colt, this time by Walk In The Park (Ire), was snapped up by Oak Tree Farm for €56,000. Lot 842, from the draft of Sheridan House Stables, is a half-brother to the 7-year-old gelding Mister Blue Sky (Ire) (Royal Applause {GB}), who is a Grade 2-winning hurdler and ran third in the G1 Herald Champion Novice Hurdle.

An important milestone was passed by the end of the day's trade on Wednesday, with the overall gross for the foal portion of the sale bettering the previous mark of a four-day foal sale and creating record turnover at €13,332,850 for 721 sold. After a total of four days' trade, the average sits at €18,492 and the median at €14,000.

On Wednesday, 194 sold of 258 offered (75%) to accrue €3,811,000. The average was €19,644 (+33%) and the median was €15,000 (+50%).

Poet’s Word Colt Tops Second Day of November NH Foals

A colt by Poet's Word (Ire) (lot 729) brought €85,000 from Joey Logan Bloodstock to top Tuesday's session of the Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale. The second day of NH foals, a total of 214 sold (83%) from 257 offered for an aggregate of €5,146,660. The average was €24,050 (-1%) and the median was €20,000 (+5%).

Offered by Mountain View Stud, the bay is out of the Grade 3-winning hurdler and Grade 2-winning chaser Dinaria des Obeaux (Fr) (Saddler Maker {Ire}), who was also third in the G1 Spring Juvenile Hurdle.

Two sons of Crystal Ocean (GB) were next on the buyers' sheets at €80,000 apiece. Aiden Murphy shelled out that amount for Hillview Stud's lot 641, the third foal out of a unraced half-sister to Grade 1 hurdler Pingshou (Ire) (Definite Article {GB}) and Grade 2 hurdler Magic of Light (Ire) (Flemensfirth). Murphy secured lot 677 for the same amount just over 30 hips later. Consigned by Oliver Loughlin, the bay is a son of Hour Before Dawn (GB) (Yeats {Ire}) from the family of Grade 1-winning chaser Docteur de Ballon (Fr) (Doctor Dino {Fr}).

Record Aggregate and Average on Opening Day of Foals For November NH Sale

A record aggregate of €2,749,400 and a record-breaking average of €14,395 (+13%) was set for the opening foal session of the Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale on Monday. A total of 191 lots sold (74%) out of 258 offered, and the median was also up 13% (€10,000).

Two fillies, lot 374 and lot 425, were joint-toppers on the day at 70,000 apiece. Ballyreddin Stud consigned a daughter of No Risk At All (Fr)–Jetfire (GB) (American Post {GB}), who caught the eye of Rathbarry Stud. Lot 374's dam won a French listed race and placed multiple times at that level in hurdle races.

Stroud Coleman Bloodstock was in action for Kilbarry Lodge Stud's offering, a Success Days (Ire) filly produced by Dona Katharina (Ire) (Stowaway {GB}). Her dam is a full-sister to Grade 2-winning hurdlers Outlander (Ire) (Stowaway {GB}) and Ice Cold Soul (Ire) (Stowaway {GB}) and Western Leader (Ire) (Stowaway {GB}).

The four-day foal portion of the November NH Sale continues tomorrow at 10 a.m. local time.

Walk In The Park Gelding Tops First Day of Tattersalls Ireland November

A gelding by Walk In The Park (Ire) (lot 166) topped Sunday's session of the Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale at €85,000. Out of Windermere Sky (Ire) (Oscar {Ire}), the bay was offered by Walshtown Stables, agent and went to Adrian Costello of Park Farm. Windermere Sky is a full-sister to Lord Windermere (Ire) (Oscar {Ire}), a dual Grade 1 Cheltenham Festival winner and a half to Sub Lieutenant (Ire) (Brian Boru {GB}), a Grade 2 winner over fences and hurdles.

“The sire is one of the leading stallions around at the moment, this horse has a top pedigree, and he is definitely the finest yearling here today,” said Costello. “He is fit to go to any sale, and anyone would be glad to own him, he is definitely a bit special. He will come back to a store sale, with luck the Derby Sale. He is a lovely big horse, he is an athlete all day long.”

Railstown Stud consigned lot 124, a gelding by Soldier of Fortune (Ire)–Mo Bury (Ire) (Overbury {}). Tally-Ho Stud shelled out €68,000 for the bay, who was produced by a half-sister to G1 Gold Cup winner Native River (Ire) (Indian River {Fr}).

The third dearest lot on the day was lot 119, a son of No Risk At All (Fr) already named Cinammon Roll (Fr). From the draft of Ballincurrig House Stud, he caught the eye of Alan Harte at €65,000. His dam is a half-sister to the stakes-placed hurdler Luna Riska (Fr) (No Risk At All {Fr}).

At the conclusion of Sunday's trade, 119 lots sold (68%) from 174 lots offered for a gross of €1,543,850. The average had improved 41% to €12,974 and the median increased 136% to €8,500.
