Fasig-Tipton March Digital Selected Sale Catalogue Now Online

Fasig-Tipton has catalogued 18 entries for its March Digital Selected Sale, the company's inaugural online auction to be conducted on its new digital platform. Bidding is now officially open for the sale, and will close this Tuesday, Mar. 22, at 2 p.m. EDT.

The catalogue, which may now be viewed at digital.fasigtipton.com, consists of horses of racing age, racing and/or broodmare prospects, in-foal mares, and a stallion share in European champion Almanzor (Fr).

“We could not be more pleased with the strength of this catalogue,” said Leif Aaron, Fasig-Tipton Director of Digital Sales. “Our goal with this first digital auction was to put together a catalogue of high-quality entries and, with the support of our consignors, we have achieved that. Prospective buyers will find something of interest on every page, with horses of racing age in top current form, pedigreed and stakes credentialed broodmare prospects, and mares in-foal on exciting covers.

“Additionally, we are pleased to offer a share in promising young sire Almanzor (Fr), who is off to a fantastic start at stud in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres,” added Aaron. “It is a rare offering that adds another level of international interest and intrigue to our inaugural digital sale.”

March Digital Selected Sale offerings include:

RISKY ANALYSIS (Hip 2): Broodmare prospect by Frued was a six-figure earner on the track and is a half-sister to recent GII Rebel S. winner Un Ojo.

SUCHADA (Hip 4): Half-sister to GISW winning millionaire Finnegans Wake is the first mare to be offered in foal to Horse of the Year Knicks Go. She was mated on Feb. 10 and has checked in-foal.

WHITE PINE (Hip 6): Broodmare prospect by Tapit is a half-sister to stakes winner Itsmyluckycharm, from the family of GISW winners Albert the Great and Rushing Fall.

WILD EMPRESS (Hip 7): Broodmare prospect by Empire Maker is a half-sister to Eclipse Champion 2-Year-Old Filly She Be Wild.

BAROSSA (Hip 10): Racing/stallion prospect is a regally bred 3-year-old son of leading sire Into Mischief that placed in the GII Los Alamitos Futurity.

GOLDEN MUSCADE (Hip 14): Young daughter of Medaglia d'Oro is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Avery Island. She is offered in foal to current leading third crop sire Not This Time.

BRAMBLE BERRY (Hip 18): Five-year-old mare is in top form, having finished second in last Saturday's GIII Hurricane Bertie S. at Gulfstream with a career-high Beyer speed figure.

Each entry's page will feature a catalogue-style pedigree, five-cross pedigree, photos, and walking videos. Horses of racing age and racing/broodmare prospect pages offer Daily Racing Form Past Performances, Thoroughmanager past performances, Ragozin speed figures, and race replays. In-foal mare pages provide True Nicks and Goldmine hypothetical matings. Access to veterinary information and a repository are available on applicable entries.

Friday’s Insights: Into Mischief Filly Stretches out for Baffert

Sponsored by Alex Nichols Agency

4th-SA, $67K, Msw, 3yo, f, 1m, 5:02 p.m.

BROCADE (Into Mischief) stretches out for trainer Bob Baffert after back-to-back efforts at six furlongs. Piloted by John Velazquez, who is 15/28 for Baffert at the current meet, the daughter of leading sire Into Mischief sold for a $750,000 final bid at the 2020 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. Baffert is an expert at turning sprinters into routers and this pricey filly's pedigree should allow her every chance to hold her speed over the mile. TJCIS PPs

WELL-BRED TAPIT FILLY GOES AGAIN AT GULFSTREAM

9th-GP, $60K, Msw, 4yo/up, f/m, 1mT, 5:08 p.m.

Whisper Hill Farm's WATCH IT (Tapit) gets a second try for trainer Todd Pletcher. The homebred filly is out of the Galileo mare Aloof (Ire), herself a Group 3 winner in Ireland and the dam of two other winners on the turf from three starters. Tapit has sired 13% turf winners, including this filly's full brother Tapaloof. Second dam Airwave (GB), winner of the G1 Betfair Cheveley Park S. and second in the G1 Golden Jubilee S., is also responsible for 2017 broodmare of the year Meow (Ire), who went on to produce MG1W and current Coolmore stallion Churchill (Galileo). Entered on the turf last time out, that race got moved to the tapeta surface and she gets the turf now. Luis Saez gets the ride again and will look to get a better trip this time around after a wide trip may have cost her last time out. TJCIS PPs

Coinage Hits it Big in Palm Beach

Winner of the GIII With Anticipation at Saratoga as a 2-year-old, Coinage returned to the winner's circle once again in the Palm Beach S. despite his early antics and notched another black-type victory to his resume. The chestnut placed third in the Nownownow S. at Monmouth Park Sept. 26 and weakened to ninth Nov. 5 at Del Mar in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf last year. Last out Feb. 5 in the GIII Kitten's Joy S. at this venue, he set all the pace, dueled in the lane and yielded late for third as the 9-5 favorite.

The 2-1 second choice this time on break, Coinage was fast out the gate but could not keep pace early with Bueno Bueno, who immediately took control of the pace. Headstrong and unwilling to settle going into the first turn, the chestnut continued to fight Luis Saez into the backstretch before finally compromising midway down from third on the rail. Tracking leaders from there, quarters tightened coming into the final turn as the closers made their move and Coinage was stuck behind a wall of horses in fifth. Floating off the fence to secure running room in the homestretch, the $450,000 KEESEP purchase produced a powerful kick to fight to the lead in the shadow of the wire, victorious by a neck over a game Main Event. Coinage is his GI-winning dam's first foal and graded stakes winner. He has a 2-year-old half-brother by Justify and a yearling half-brother by Tapit. The mare is expecting a foal by Quality Road this season. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by TVG.
