Three Turf Races Selected For Friday’s Stronach Pick 5; Pool Guaranteed At $100,000

Races from Laurel Park and Gulfstream Park, including three on the turf, will comprise Friday's Stronach 5, a national wager featuring a $100,000 guaranteed pool and industry-low 12-percent takeout.

The sequence kicks off with Laurel's sixth race at 3:33 p.m. A field of maiden 3-year-olds and up will go six furlongs on the Fort Marcy turf course. The sequence concludes on the Fort Marcy approximately an hour later with fillies and mares also going six furlongs. The second leg of the Stronach 5, Gulfstream's sixth race, is the $55,000 Paradise Creek for 3-year-olds and up at a mile on the turf with stakes winner Renaisance Frolic, graded-stakes placed Tizzarunner, stakes-placed Forever Mo, and Sailing Solo.

17 Winning Tickets Pay $7,039.80 In Stronach 5

Friday's Stronach 5, featuring a $100,000 guaranteed pool and industry-low 12-percent takeout, had 17 winning tickets each worth a generous $7,039.80.

The sequence kicked off with Gulfstream's eighth race and a $15.60 winner in Fujairah, the longest price of the Stronach 5, and ended with Santa Anita's third race and 6-5 favorite Tiberius Mercurius holding off War Path for the victory.  Tiberius Mercurius was the shortest price of the day.

Friday’s Low Takeout Stronach 5 Averages 11-Plus Runners Per Race

There will be lots of opportunity to make a score in Friday's Stronach 5 with large, competitive fields featuring races from Gulfstream Park in Florida, Laurel Park in Maryland and Santa Anita Park in Southern California.

The Stronach 5 will feature a $100,000 guaranteed pool and an industry-low 12-percent takeout.

Gulfstream's eighth race kicks off the Stronach 5 at 3:41 p.m. with a dozen allowance optional claiming 3-year-old fillies going five furlongs on the turf. The race includes lightly-raced Solid as a Rock and Tony's Rose and stakes-placed Song River.

Laurel's seventh and eighth races in the Stronach 5 – allowance optional claimers on the main track – once again have attracted full fields with great value. Favored Bustoff is 9-2 in the seventh race and favored Runaway Lute is 7-2 in the eighth race.

Santa Anita's third race will be the final leg of the sequence, a mile event on the turf for 3-year-olds and up including favored Tiberius Mercurius, a disqualified winner in his last, and two starters from the barn of Bob Baffert.

Longshots At Laurel Park, Gulfstream Fuel Stronach 5 Payout Of $17,678

Eight bettors with all five winners in Friday's Stronach 5 were each rewarded with a winning ticket of $17,678.20.

The Stronach 5 kicked off with Laurel's eighth race, won by the Mike Trombetta-trained No More Lady ($15.80). Gulfstream's 10th race, the second leg of the sequence, produced another price with the win of the Mark Casse-trained Meadow Beauty ($24.20).

After favored Going to Vegas ($3.60) won Santa Anita's third race and the third leg of the Stronach 5, Power Back ($17.40) won Laurel's 10th race – the fourth race of the sequence – before things wrapped up with Golden Gate's fifth race and Mando ($7.40)  winning the final leg of the Stronach 5.
