Stronach 5 Rewards 46 Winning Ticket-Holders With $1,800

There were 46 winning tickets in Friday's Stronach 5 with each worth $1,800.80.

Friday's wager featured races from Pimlico Race Course, Gulfstream Park, Santa Anita Park and Golden Gate Fields along with an industry-low 12-percent takeout.

Friday's first two races of the Stronach 5 began at Pimlico and both races produced prices, with Judi Blue Eyes ($10.80) winning the eighth race, an allowance event at 1 1/16 miles on the turf, and American Patrol ($19.80) winning the ninth race, a $40,000 maiden special weight event for 3-year-olds.

The third leg of the Stronach 5, Gulfstream's ninth race at five furlongs on the turf, was won by 9-5 favorite Missing Link ($5.60). The Stronach 5 headed west for the last two legs of its popular Friday program. Santa Anita's third race was won by the 1-2 favorite Zabava ($3), who registered her eighth career victory and second in her last three starts. The Stronach 5 concluded with Golden Gate's second race and another heavy favorite in Arouse N Go ($4.80) getting a trip to the winner's circle.

High Winds Lead To Suspension Of Pimlico’s Friday Card; Stronach 5 Cancelled

High winds forced the Maryland Jockey Club to suspend live racing following Friday's third race at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Md.

The Baltimore area is under a high-wind warning through 2 a.m. Saturday with winds at 25 to 35 mph and gusts up to 60 mph.

With Pimlico hosting the first two legs in Races 8 and 9, Friday's weekly national Stronach 5 wager was also cancelled. It is scheduled to return Friday, May 7.

Pimlico will host a nine-race program Saturday with a special 12:15 p.m. post time on Kentucky Derby (G1) day from Churchill Downs.

Friday’s Stronach 5 Features Four Tracks, Three Turf Races

An interesting sequence of five races from four tracks along with an industry-low 12-percent takeout will make up Friday's Stronach 5.

The Stronach 5 will include races from Pimlico Race Course, Gulfstream Park, Santa Anita Park and Golden Gate Fields.

The action kicks off at 4:34 ET with Pimlico's eighth race, a 5 ½ furlong event for optional allowance claimers led by Colts Neck Stables LLC's Dalton, who returns from a five-month layoff after ending his juvenile season with a second-place finish against the multiple-stakes winner No Cents in the James F. Lewis at Laurel in November. A son of Kantharos, Dalton finished second by a nose in September in the Smoke Glacken at Monmouth Park. Trained by Jorge Duarte Jr., Jevian Toledo gets the mount on Dalton, who has never been off the board in five starts.

Sky's Not Falling enters the race for trainer Mike Trombetta off a fifth-place finish on the turf at Gulfstream Park in his 3-year-old debut. The son of Seville finished third last summer at Saratoga in the Skidmore, second at Woodbine in the Ontario Racing Stakes and third in the Fitz Dixon Jr. at Presque Isle. Victor Carrasco will ride.

Exculpatory, who won his debut March 5 at Laurel for trainer Mark Reid, and Kwist, who broke his maiden at first asking in September for Claudio Gonzalez, return for their second starts.

The Stronach 5 continues with Gulfstream's ninth race, a 7 ½ furlong turf event for maiden fillies and mares. It's wide open with a 7-2 favorite in Maricopa, who drops slightly off a third-place finish. Kayla's Tune returns to the turf, drops from his last turf start, and gets Edwin Gonzalez.

Pimlico's ninth race, a five-furlong turf event for $12,500 claimers, serves as the third leg of the sequence. Algodonal leaves from the rail in her first start since November. The daughter of Afleet Alex closed out her 4-year-old year with her last five races moved off the turf to the main track.

The Stronach 5 heads west for the fourth and fifth legs of the Stronach 5. Santa Anita's third race, a maiden claimer for 3-year-old fillies, has a 2-1 favorite in Circle of Honor, coming off a second-place finish against similar company April 4 for trainer Steve Knapp. Flag Salutes drops in from a restricted maiden special weight for trainer Carla Gaines. David Hofmans sends out Paynter's Love, who finished 1 ¼ lengths behind Circle of Honor last time out.

Golden Gate's third race concludes the Stronach 5. The mile turf event for 3-year-olds with a $20,000 tag has a 6-5 favorite in Qatar Racing's Space Odessey, a son of Malibu Moon beaten less than a length at Golden Gate April 2 after dropping into this condition from a $80,000 maiden claiming event at Santa Anita in February.

Friday’s Stronach 5 Kicks Off With Pair Of Races From Historic Pimlico Race Course

Two races from legendary Pimlico Race Course will kick off Friday's Stronach 5, featuring four tracks, two races on the turf, and an industry-low 12-percent takeout.

The Stronach 5 will also include races from Gulfstream Park, Santa Anita Park and Golden Gate Fields.

The popular Stronach 5 begins with Pimlico's eighth race, a $40,000 maiden event for 3-year-old fillies at six furlongs. Edie Meeny Miny Mo, a first-time starter from the barn of Miguel Vera, is a tepid 3-1 choice. Leading trainer Claudio Gonzalez sends out Despeight All Odds coming off a pair of third-place finishes against similar company.

Pimlico's ninth race serves as the second leg of the sequence. The $40,000 claiming event at a 1 1/16 mile for 3-year-olds is another wide-open event with two horses from the barns of Gonzalez and Dale Bennett, and entries from Hamilton Smith, Katherine Voss, Jamie Ness and Anthony Farrioor.

The action shifts to Gulfstream's eight race and the first of back-to-back turf races. Once again, a wide-open event with six of the 11 starters 6-1 or under in the mile turf event. Santa Anita's third race, a 6 ½ furlong turf event, follows with 10 California sired or bred 3-year-old fillies Michalski is a tepid 7-2 favorite. The Stronach 5 concludes with Golden Gate's third race, a $12,500 claiming event for 3-year-olds. Zoffa is a 9-5 favorite.
