Carryover Fuels Big Stronach 5 Pool; Four Tickets Each Win $98,311

There were four winning tickets in Friday's Stronach 5 each worth $98,311.20.

There was a carryover of $76,823.80 and $359,626 of money wagered Friday.

The Stronach 5 featured races from Laurel Park, Santa Anita Park, Gulfstream Park and Golden Gate Fields along with a low 12-percent takeout.

The wager started with Figlio Del Re, trained by Graham Motion, winning Laurel's eighth race and returning $18.80. Laurel's ninth race, the fourth leg of the sequence, had a $29.80 winner in Uhtred.

$76,823 Carried Over To Next Friday’s Stronach 5

The Stronach 5 will have a rare carryover Oct. 22 of $76,823.80 after there were no winning tickets Friday.

Featuring a low 12-percent takeout, the Stronach 5 proved tough to hit Friday when two races from Laurel Park produced longshot winners of $33.80 and $26. The remaining three races from Santa Anita Park and Gulfstream Park had payoffs of $10 or less.

It was Dance Warrior, a 15-1 shot, who opened the Stronach 5 by winning Laurel's eighth race over a firm 1 1/8-mile course under jockey Jevian Toledo. The lightly raced 3-year-old daughter of Pioneerof the Nile returned $33.80

Gulfstream's eighth race at six furlongs on the main track served as the second leg of the Stronach 5. Gangly, a 4-1 shot racing for the first time since being claimed by trainer Jose D'Angelo, was the winner under jockey Samy Camacho and returned $10.

Laurel's ninth race, a maiden event at six furlongs for 2-year-olds, was the third leg of the Stronach 5 and American Playboy, off at 12-1 under jockey Jorge Ruiz, drove past 3-5 favorite Bust'em Kurt for the victory.

The Stronach 5 went west to Santa Anita for the final two legs. The third race at Santa Anita for maiden 3-year-olds and up going six furlongs went to the 5-2 second choice Miss Tokyo for trainer Leonard Powell and jockey Umberto Rispoli.

Santa Anita's fourth race concluded the Stronach 5 with maidens 3-years-old and up going six furlongs on the main track. Humboldt was a late scratch at the gate and Gerlach's (5-2) lost his rider shortly after the start. It was Pick Your Bid (3-1) and jockey Mario Gutierrez who got up in the final strides to win the final leg of the Stronach 5.

Gulfstream Park: Pegasus Week Kicks Off Wednesday with $750,000 Jackpot Guarantee In Rainbow 6

Pegasus Week at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla., will kick off Wednesday with a guaranteed jackpot pool of $750,000 for the 20-cent Rainbow 6.

The popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the sixth racing day in a row following a Jan. 9 mandatory payout. Multiple tickets with six winners were each worth $16,505.56 Sunday.

The jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

There will also be a Super Hi-5 carryover of $5,815.06.

Entries for next Saturday's $3-million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) and $1-million Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1) will be taken Wednesday. The post-position draw will be livestreamed at 11:45 a.m. ET on gulfstreampark.com.

The Pegasus and Pegasus Turf will be featured on a 12-race program with five supporting stakes, including the $200,000 Inside Information (G2), the $125,000 Fred W. Hooper (G3), the $150,000 W. L. McKnight (G3), the $125,000 Marshua's River (G3) and the $125,000 La Prevoyante. First-race post time Saturday is set for 11:40 a.m.

Leading up to Pegasus World Cup Day, there will be a $97,891.79 carryover for Friday's Stronach 5 multi-race, multi-track wager.

WHO'S HOT:  Two-time defending Championship Meet titlist Irad Ortiz Jr. rode five winners on Sunday's program, scoring aboard Templet ($8.40) in Race 3, Snackster ($25) in Race 6, Traffic Pattern ($3.80) in Race 7, and Zanno ($5.60) in Race 9 before capping his big day with a victory aboard Bohemian Boy ($7.40) in Race 12.

Stronach 5 Pays $68,683; $442,449 Bet Into Carryover Pool

There were seven winning tickets on Friday's Stronach 5, each returning $68,683.10.

The Stronach 5, with an industry-low 12-percent takeout and featuring races from Laurel Park in Maryland and Gulfstream Park West in South Florida, had a carryover of $91,481.74. There was an additional $442,449 wagered Friday.

The sequence began with Laurel's seventh race and Three Diamonds Farm's Kiss the Girl winning for trainer Michael Trombetta and jockey Victor Carrasco at odds of 9-2. The eighth race at Laurel, the second leg of the sequence, produced a $44.60 winner in Jovis.

Gulfstream's eighth race, the third leg of the sequence, was won by Ima Daredevil ($6.20) while Laurel's ninth race, the fourth leg of the sequence, was won by favored Sing Along Suzy ($5.80). The Stronach 5 wrapped up with Gulfstream's ninth race and 5-1 winner Henry's World.
