Galiway Share Tops Final Arqana Online Sale For 2023

A share in Haras de Colleville stallion Galiway (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) was purchased by the Broadhurst Agency's Laurent Benoit for €160,000 to be the top-priced offering during Arqana's final online sale of the year Tuesday, Dec. 19.

The rising 13-year-old is the sire of 14 black-type winners, eight at group level, including G1 Champion S. and G1 Prix Jean Luc Lagardere hero Sealiway (Fr) and Sunway (Fr), victorious in the G1 Criterium International. Galiway is also the sire of Vauban (Fr), a Group 3 winner on the flat and a jumps horse of considerable talent.

A share in Sealiway, whose first foals are due next season, was knocked down to France Turf International for €56,000, while a breeding right in Cracksman (GB) (Frankel {GB}), sire of G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Ace Impact (Ire), was sold to Ladyswood Stud for €50,000.

Following over 200 bids, seven of the eight breeding rights and stallion shares were sold for a total of €383,000 (outside of the sealed bid).

Half-Share In Wooded Among Arqana November Online Wildcards

A half-share in Group 1-winning sprinter Wooded (Fr) (Wootton Bassett {GB}) (lot 11) is among the three wildcard lots added to the Arqana November Online Sale on Tuesday, Nov. 28 from 4-6 p.m.

The other two wildcards are both breeding rights, one in Grade 1-winning jumper Goliath Du Berlais (Fr) (Saint Des Saints {Fr}) (lot 10) and one in G1 Irish Derby hero Latrobe (Ire) (Camelot {GB}) (lot 12). The former has first 3-year-olds in 2024, while the latter has his first juveniles next term.

Share In Zarak Anchors Arqana November Online Sale

A 1/50th share in Zarak (Fr) (lot 1) is one of nine stallion shares or breeding rights catalogued for the Arqana November Online Sale from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

The Aga Khan Studs' stallion is the leading stallion in France by number of winners in 2023 and has a percentage of 70% winners to runners. He sired his first Group 1 winner, Zagrey (Fr), in Germany this year and five other horses have placed at the highest level.

Other stallion shares on offer include first-season sire City Light (Fr) (lot 2) who is off to a bright start with his first runners; a 1/70th share in Group 1 sire Galiway (GB) (lot 3); lot 4 is a 1/60th share in Goken (Fr); a 1/50th share in crack sprinter Hello Youmzain (Fr) (lot 5), a 1/60th share in G1 Champion S. winner Sealiway (Fr), and a 1/60th share in group sire The Grey Gatsby (Ire) (lot 8) will also go under the hammer.

There are also breeding rights available in Group 1 sire Cracksman (GB) (lot 6) and G2 Prix Chaudenay hero Doha Dream (Fr) (lot 9).

Classic-Placed Sauterne And 16 Royal Ascot Entries Among Goffs London Sale Catalogue

Following the news last week that several stakes-winning 2-year-olds with Royal Ascot entries were signed on for the Goffs London Sale at the Kensington Palace Gardens, the complete Goffs London Sale catalogue, in association with Privat 3 Money, was announced on Tuesday.

Consisting of 25 lots, the June 19 sale includes Sauterne (Fr) (Kingman {GB}) (lot 10), who is a French listed winner and ran third in the G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains; as well as G2 Mehl-Mulhens-Rennen third Dhangadi (Ger) (Soldier Hollow {GB}) (lot 17); and G3 Prix du Lys Longines entrant St James Park (Fr) (Pedro The Great (lot 19). A total of 16 horses have engagements at Royal Ascot, among them G3 Hampton Court S. entry Bright Legend (Ire) (Zoustar {Aus}) (lot 5); G3 Albany S. nominee Rush Queen (Ire) (Ardad {Ire}) (lot 18); G2 Coventry S. starter Prince X J (Ire) (Mehmas {Ire}) (lot 20); G2 Queen Mary S. entry Tiger Belle (Ire) (Cotai Glory {GB}) (lot 22); and multiple listed winner Ocean Vision (Ire) (U S Navy Flag) (lot 25), who runs in the G3 Jersey S.
