Coolmore To Auction Season To Justify For Kentucky Tornado Relief

In the wake of the tornadoes that devastated Western Kentucky over the weekend, Coolmore will auction off a 2022 live foal guaranteed season to Triple Crown winner Justify to raise funds for the relief effort.

Proceeds from the auctioned season will go to a relief fund established by the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association.

Bidding will take place via email, closing on Friday, Dec. 17 at 5 p.m. Eastern. Interested parties may submit bids to adrianmw@coolmore.com.

Justify, a 6-year-old son of Scat Daddy, stands at Coolmore's Ashford Stud in Versailles, Ky., for an advertised fee of $100,000. His first foals will be 2-year-olds of 2022.

OTBO Stallion Season Auction Set For Dec. 8-9

The Ohio Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners (OTBO) will conduct a stallion season auction Dec. 8 and 9 with previews beginning Dec. 3.

Among the more than 120 stallions included are 59 that are based in Kentucky, including the likes of Creative Cause, Dialed In, Karakontie (Jpn), Union Rags and West Coast to name a few. Also among the offerings are seasons to stallions based in Indiana, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

“We are excited to offer such incredible depth and quality in our sale this year,” said Mike Annechino, executive director of the OTBO. “With the help and support of all the participating farms, we feel we are providing breeders with a tremendous opportunity to produce outstanding foals.”

TCA Holding Series of Fundraising Auctions

Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA) will hold a variety of fundraising auctions over the first two weeks of the new year, featuring approximately 200 stallion seasons from over 10 states as well as a silent auction of non-season items.

The TCA’s Online Season Auction features over 150 seasons and runs from Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 9 a.m. through Friday, Jan. 8 at 4:30 p.m. EST. Featured in the online auction are seasons to such sires as Candy Ride (Arg), English Channel, Ghostzapper, Gun Runner, Liam’s Map, More Than Ready, Outwork, Paynter, Speightstown, Tapiture, Union Rags and Violence.

A Select Season Auction will take place Tuesday, Jan. 12, following the conclusion of selling on day two of Book 1 of the Keeneland January Sale. Offered in this auction are seasons to Blame, Constitution, Curlin, Laoban, Nyquist (with a 2022 breed back) and Quality Road. A silent auction of non-season items gets underway Jan. 6 at 9 a.m. EST and continues through Tuesday, Jan. 12. Items in the silent auction include equine air transportation with Tex Sutton, a Fasig-Tipton auction and sales package, a halter worn by dual G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Enable (GB) and signed by her trainer John Gosden and jockey Frankie Dettori; and a halter worn by Tapit, among others.

TCA Stallion Season Auction Set for January

Thoroughbred Charities of America will hold its 31st Annual Stallion Season Auction from Wednesday, Jan. 6 through Tuesday, Jan. 12, TCA announced Tuesday. It is the largest annual fundraiser for the nonprofit organization. The fundraiser opens with an online auction of stallion seasons beginning at 9 a.m. EST Jan. 6 and continues through 4:30 p.m. EST Jan. 8. Over 150 seasons will be available for online bidding including ones from Ghostzapper, Liam’s Map, Palace Malice, More Than Ready, Speightstown, and Gun Runner. The majority of the seasons will sell during the online auction, however select seasons including Blame, Constitution, Curlin, Game Winner, Laoban, Nyquist (with 2022 breed back), and Quality Road will be sold in a live auction in the Keeneland Sales Pavilion Jan. 12 at the close of session two, book one of the January sale. Bidders or their authorized agents may bid on the select seasons in person at Keeneland or they may contact TCA at ecrady@tca.org or 859-276-4989 to bid online or by phone.

A silent auction of non-season items including halters worn by Enable and Tapit, a John Deere X330 lawn tractor, equine air transportation aboard a Tex Sutton flight, vanning from Sallee and Brook Ledge, and much more will be available for online bidding.
