NYTB Hosts Annual Stallion Season Auction Through Wanamaker’s

The New York Thoroughbred Breeders (NYTB), in partnership with Wanamaker's, has opened its annual stallion season auction. A total of 49 stallion seasons are available, ranging from Kentucky sires Candy Ride (Arg), Union Rags, and Honor Code to New York stallions War Dancer, Mission Impazible, and Honest Mischief. The seasons are no guarantee and non-refundable.

A percentage of proceeds from seasons sold for stallions standing in Kentucky will be donated to the Foundation of Appalachian Kentucky for those impacted by recent tornadoes in the region.

Live bidding began Tuesday and will close Thursday, Jan. 13, at 5 p.m. ET. Listings will end in three-minute increments.

In addition, Wanamaker's, which hosts monthly online Thoroughbred auctions, will also hold its January Sale from Jan. 19-27 with entries closing Jan. 18.

Not This Time Season Added As Thoroughbred Charities Of America’s Stallion Season Auction Gets Underway

Thoroughbred Charities of America announced today that the 32nd Annual Stallion Season Auction is now underway. It is the largest annual fundraiser for the nonprofit organization.

Bidding on over 200 stallion seasons from 16 states began today on Starquine.com and will continue through Friday, Jan. 7, with staggered ending times beginning at 4:30 p.m. EST. Seasons available in the online auction include Audible, Basin, Candy Ride, McKinzie, More Than Ready, Speightstown, and Volatile. A full list of seasons is available here.

Most of the seasons will sell during the online auction, however 10 select seasons will be sold at the 'Tis the Seasons Celebration on Sunday, Jan. 9 at 5:30 p.m. at Grand Reserve in Lexington, Ky.

Select seasons will include a recent donation of a no guarantee season to Not This Time as well as seasons to Bolt d'Oro, Charlatan, City of Light, Constitution, Liam's Map, Maxfield (with 2023 breed back), Nyquist (with 2023 breed back), Quality Road, and Yaupon (with 2023 breed back).

Bidders or their authorized agents may bid on select seasons by attending the event in-person or they may email ecrady@tca.org to register to bid online. Non-season items including a John Deere Gator, accommodations at the Hill 'n' Dale Farms at Xalapa “tree house,” a wall box and stall webbing from Charlie Whittingham's barn, and more will also be offered in the live auction. An online silent auction of non-season items including halters worn by Life is Good, Curlin, Charlatan, Tapit, Knicks Go and more will be offered. A list of silent auction items is available here.

Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA) was formed in 1990 to raise and distribute funds to approved charities in the Thoroughbred industry. TCA's mission is to fund and facilitate the support of Thoroughbreds and the people who care for them. In 2021, TCA granted over $775,000 to 69 approved charities working within Thoroughbred retraining, rehoming and retirement; backstretch and farm worker services, research and equine-assisted therapy. TCA to Honor Roytz and Our Mims Retirement Haven

Thoroughbred Charities of America will honor Jen Roytz with the Allaire du Pont Leadership Award and Our Mims Retirement Haven with the Ellen and Herb Moelis Industry Service Award at the 32nd annual Stallion Season Auction 'Tis the Season Celebration Sunday, Jan. 9 at Grand Reserve in Lexington, Ky.

The Allaire du Pont Leadership Award is presented annually to an organization or individual whose philanthropic endeavors are consistent with TCA's mission.

A native of Cleveland, Roytz is a marketing and communications specialist based in Central Kentucky. Over the past 10 years, Roytz served in the capacities of board member, marketing consultant, and executive director of the Retired Racehorse Project. Roytz is a partner in Topline Communications and was previously marketing director for Three Chimneys Farm. She and her husband, Dr. Stuart Brown, own and operate Brownstead Farm, a breeding, sales, racing and sport horse facility in Versailles, Ky.

The Ellen and Herb Moelis Industry Service Award is presented annually to an organization that works to uphold TCA's mission. Founded in 2007 by Jeanne Mirabito, Our Mims Retirement Haven is the only Thoroughbred aftercare organization in the U.S. dedicated solely to caring for retired broodmares. Sadly, in 2020, Mirabito passed away, however her husband, Pete Mirabito, and the organization's board of directors proudly carry on the organization's vision and mission.

The Stallion Season Auction opens with an online auction of stallion seasons at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5 and continues through 4:30 p.m. ET Friday, Jan. 7. Over 150 seasons will be available in the online auction. A full list of seasons is available here.

Minnesota Thoroughbred Association’s Online Stallion Season Auction Set To Begin Jan. 3

The Minnesota Thoroughbred Association (MTA) will conduct its 2022 Stallion Season Auction Jan. 3 through Jan. 10, featuring more than 50 premier stallions from Kentucky, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, and Minnesota. The online auction will be hosted at www.thoroughlybred.com.

A $1,000 incentive is being offered again for this year's auction from the Minnesota Breeders' Fund. Any breeder who purchases a stallion season through the 2022 MTA Stallion Season Auction and foals in Minnesota, will receive a $1,000 check when the foal is registered with the Minnesota Racing Commission in 2023.

“As we look forward to 2022, organizers at the Minnesota Thoroughbred Association are excited to provide breeders with these premier stallion seasons to bid on. Our partner stallion farms have been wonderful to work with and we encourage breeders to support these farms that help support regional programs like ours,” said Kay King, Executive Director of the MTA.

Bids will be placed on a rolling basis for all seven days of the sale which begins on Jan. 3. Stallion seasons can be searched by state or name on the website. New stallion seasons may continue to be added through the duration of the sale.
